Good, so if there's no set internal gravity rules, then I'm operating under the Hyperion novel series rules. What rules are those? 1) A robot must not harm a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2) A robot must obey orders given to it by a human being, except where doing so would cause it to violate the First Law. 3) A robot must act to preserve itself, except where doing so would cause it to violate the First or Second Laws.

It holds that without shields, acceleration from the ship's thrusters will pull you towards the back of the ship. If you accelerate at 1 g your body will experience the normal amount of weight pressing on it, if you accelerate at 2 gs your body will have twice the normal amount of pressure on it. I think the maximum gravities a person can take without passing out is somewhere between 10 and 20 gravities, assuming you have a specialized acceleration couch (assumption based on "the Reality Dysfunction" book series). This means that it would take a ship weeks or even months to get up to a high enough speed to be any use in combat. However, using shields to counter the effects of gravity, a manned vessel may now accelerate at any speed that its engines can handle, including "Raspberry Jam Delta V" (a speed so high that if the shields were to malfunction for an instant, the passengers would be thrown so hard to the back of the ship that the remains would look more like raspberry jam than a recognizable person). I know this isn't ever going to be implemented in the game, I just love the chance to get a good Hyperion reference in there.

| Have to say, that's a pretty aesthetically pleasing design. The only thing detracting from it is the obsidian, have you experimented with other materials like lapis or iron on that chassis? | |
