Okay, perhaps these pictures will help you guess what it is. By a happy "coincidence", the battleship I was building happened to fit almost exactly with my battle-cruiser, and it looks pretty close to the original front (from the top).

Any advice on doing practical (apposed to my usual aesthetic) detailing? (I'm looking at you here, Billy).

First off, let me explain that I'm following a model of the ship I'm building more or less closely.

But that said, that honestly looks pretty good to me now. But if you want to try to improve it, I found some pics that might help.

If you want, just do a Google Image search of some form of "greebles" and let those inspire you.

The problem with copying the greeble off the original Aurora-class ship is that every picture is different (and my ship isn't an exact replica). I just feel like I've done something wrong with the detail on my ship.

I recommend windows. Seriously My best ship turned out with 5-10 windows.

Bumps, bits, and knobbly things. Comm antennas, gun mounts, escape pods, airlocks, and anything else.

Use then for antennas and small detailing, the rest should be regular blocks.

Attention to everyone! I have started to update the OP (finally). I am providing stats and a (hopefully) rich back-story to them. It will take a while.

I invite you to take a look, and offer any advice on how I may improve (including spelling mistakes)
