| Mods are more trouble then they're worth on SMP. With the new thin client model and Modding API, that's likely subject to change, though. | |

| Yea, if SSP is a local server, then some bright mind will fuse the client side mod work with the server side stuff and make a universal mod. | |

Yes, IC2 took me nearly 6 hours to install correctly on a server, and it still wasn't perfect... | |

| The server has to have the mod installed in order for clients to use its functions.
This April a few people tried the 'FC early release' and of course, they crashed. Like Avenger said it's a pain in the butt to install these things right, and even then only a handful of people will be arsed to get the mod themselves to make the effort worthwhile.
Essentially until Mojang gets their crap together modded servers will be far and in between, I guess I'm trying to say. | |
