Tiel, my advice would to be to find common ground. You saw her in the library, yes? If she is a reader, perhaps you could use literature as a stepping stone. You can strike up a conversation about books, which is really an unassuming (for lack of a better word) topic that is likely to ring a bell in her that realizes "Hey, this guy actually is... kinda decent, at least he is a good conversationalist," without triggering the stalker alarm. And... well, I am an antisocial socially awkward MIT hopeful space geek that is obsessed with sci-fi novels. So what would I know? But hey, it might just be worth a shot. But again, what would I know? Hope this helps...

I discovered her third period class is actually right across the hallway from mine, but she was with another girl so...
We did have an enlightening conversation around twenty feet from one another when I walked out the door of the JROTC gym (apparently that's just like leaving a classroom).
"Hey, what are you doing?" (in a tone just going 'wtf', since like I said her and the PL are basically in charge when the teachers aren't active)
"Grabbing something."
"...ok."
And I just feel absolutely awful since not only thereafter did she talk to another guy and had a decidedly more thrilling chat about stairs and sunsets, I also failed so hard at the game we played in said gym, so good bye to impressing her with martial prowess. Sigh.

I got this.
So, you need to do a few things. First off, make sure your feathers are always properly preened. Then, go hunting, and hunt the biggest animal you can find. Then, fly to her and offer up the carcass as a gift. If she doesn't take it, it's cool. Just get another the next day. Now, during this time, she might have other suitors. Most owls will try and figure out when they're giving their gifts, then beat the shit out of the opposition, but I was always of the opinion that beating the guy up just before he gives his gift is a better idea. Pretty soon, she'll start crooning and hooting at you. This is good; you now just need to hoot back just after she does. After that, it's all good.
