I doubt that we can prevent it, so if we really want a backstory, we need to make it ourselves.. That said, we could also say, "Steve made a spaceship, and now he wants to fight."

Part of the fun of Minecraft is the fact that you create your own story, everything is open to interpretation.

More or less. MC has no "canon" (aside from block names) and you can make up any story you want with it.
