So, what do you think on the Lego Deathstar? Just spent 1,200 on a 3,417 piece to-scale model of the second one. Going well, planning on blowing stuff up soon.

I have that set. It looks very nice once it's completed, but it was pretty tedious to build. I probably wouldn't have paid 12 hundred for it. It was 4 hundred when it came out, and I got it half-price right as it was going out of stores. It just depends on what you want to do with it. The mini Executor isn't quite to scale. All in all, I think the Imperial Star Destroyer set was nicer. It's more impressive.

I think Fenway's talking about the Ultimate Collectors edition.

Exaggerated about the cost, mainly because I saw one site selling it for that.

Just discovered the tediousness. So slow.

Looking forward to it's completion. I'm also planning on getting the other stuff, Imperial Star Destroyer and such.

My friend has the old cruiser, the Tantive IV, that was the first ship to appear. The red one. It's very nice, but age is causing it to fall apart. He's replacing old pieces with newer pieces, keeping the original design.

I have the original X-wing Fighter set (When I saw the value change all I thought was "boy, that escalated quickly") and Anakin's Podracer. A friend of mine has the Droid Troop Carrier, Naboo Starfighter, and Droid Tank form when Phantom Menace first came out, as well as several others sitting on his shelf.

Um. A minifig scale Death Star would be about 3.33 kilometers/2.08 miles across. I think that would be more than 400 US dollars. It would be cool, though.

I assume you mean the Death Star that comes with all the minifigures, but unfortunately is not minifigure scale. I don't have that one.

Right. But it's on a minifig scale, as opposed to being a big sphere of nothingness.

tbh LEGOs are way too expensive nowadays for what they offer. I predict the company's going to tank soon.

Really there is?
They would have to create a big necro then to do so.
Also it still is about Star Wars LEGO, so it is on topic.

Ah yes, now back to the series about getting rid of an evil ruler who wasn't really all that bad unless you tried to rebel and was trying to get the galaxy ready for an invasion that would happen 40 years after he died that randomly started on Episode IV.

Yay, ROS!

Palpatine committed genocide. More than once. He was a bad ruler.

That's where it started.

@LJS - Palpatine was a megalomaniac and a xenophobe, but I don't think he was actually as pure evil as he's made out to be. I know he HATED aliens and liked to use them as slaves or just kill them, but there's a lot of evidence that another one of his main goals was to prepare the galaxy for the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. In the end, I actually think more lives would have been saved if he had stayed in power.

Palpatine was made out to be an evil antagonist, like it or not. I don't know what you've been reading, but if we're going back to the roots here, he was intentionally designed as a tyrannical and twisted Sith Lord in the original trilogy. Even if he made preparations, they were out of preservation of his empire, not for the good of the people whom he condoned the deaths of on a daily basis.

Yeah. Palpatine is one of the very few characters in Star Wars that is designed to be completely evil in every way. Even really bad people, like Darth Bane or Darth Maul, are shown having some sort of emotion, or family, or something. Palpatine is not. Ian McDiarmid, the actor who played him, said "I imagine he's evil from birth, which is a terrible thing to imagine."

As I said earlier, the trait that really defines him is his megalomania. And yes, everything he did was to preserve his own empire. But in doing so, he also tried to impose a galactic peace and prepare for extragalactic invasion.

Having half your empire trying to depose you because of your actions is not what I'd call 'galactic peace'. That was not his goal.

The New Republic had more or less an equivalent fleet to the Imperial Navy and a practically unified state, but they got caught with their pants down which splintered it all. The only way Palpatine could have kept order through the crisis was to possess his military. Did I mention he did that, like, 100% of the time? Even so, really, the only reason the NR won at all was because of the Jedi and Zonama Zekot. The fearless deeds and reputed honor of the Order pretty much fractured the Vong before Zekot just swept up its babies and boogied out.

Had the Emperor been in charge still, the Vong would have mercilessly torn through his regime as a unified race, not stopping until the last civilian was enslaved. Zekot wouldn't save them either, because the Empire was practically torturing the damn planet. If anything, it'd have been encouraging the Yuuzhan to go ahead and wipe everything out.
