I miss SWBF I and II. I got way too good at those games back on my original Xbox. It's also why I hate the flight controls on BSGO. Say what you will, space combat was fun in II.

| I'd love to play once I get my copy updated. I haven't played it in a little while (like, a month). | |

| I am frustrated. I was playing a game against an Easy (Easy!) TEC AI, and for once I decided not to zerg rush it. Instead I took my time, fortified planets, etc. And now he has a superweapon, massive battlefleets at all three border worlds, and ships spilling out of the wormhole behind the lines. I have no idea how this happened. | |

| Every RTS is about rushing, not babysitting your bases. You have to disrupt enemy operations while simultaneously fulfilling your own to have a chance at winning.
One of the many flaws of real time strategy games...

One of the many flaws of real time strategy games... Actually, taking your time against AIs works. I've played many games VS AI where I would just sit in my base all game, building up, taking care of my business till I had an end-all fleet of doom.

| Does not work for me, apparently didn't work for LJS either.
Unless you're hitting the other guy with a stick while they're doing the same, you're going to be at a disadvantage.

As the game starts, scout your immediate area as fast as possible to determine the best choke points. Capture those choke points as fast as possible, even if it means skipping planets between your homeworld and said chokepoints. Build up powerful defenses at those choke points and enjoy the rest of the game hiding behind them doing your stuff.

| Problem being choke points don't exactly grow on trees, and one seldom has the resources to defend them effectively early game.
Personally I find one of Stardock's other titles, Galactic Civilization, to have a much more authentic strategic implementation. But that's just me.

| Then, just don't ignore them, and add starbase(s) and you are invincible.

Story of my first beat-down on a medium AI Yes, the three turrets will last you long enough to send your main forces away and capture the other planets behind the choke, then you have to reinforce with repair platforms, more turrets, hangar bays and eventually a starbase.

We do indeed. I don't even know if it'll work anymore because there might have been patches since then.
