| How? Don't use a Mac.
But seriously, I don't understand exactly what you are trying to do. Could you expound a little?

| You only use a Mac if you don't know how to use a computer, Mac. | |

| DOWN WITH APPLE.
Yet I'm wearing a pair of their headphones right now. Hypocrisy at its finest.
Hold on a sec while I go burn these.

| I'm using a MacBook Air right now, and I hate it. I'd much rather use my huge Windows-running laptop that can't even fit in a computer bag because it weighs so much and it's so big. It's better and faster than this oisk'la thing. | |

| Sigh... Wish I had a laptop. My parents would never buy me one, and I'm to lazy to get a job lol. But supposedly my college is giving me one for free next year. Hopefully it isn't a piece | |

| Ignoring all the fanboy wars in here, what precisely are you trying to do, Blockman?
Are you trying to run your OS off your external or make a backup to your external?

| Slave the hard disk to a Windows or *nix box, use a tool (recommend EASEUS Partition Master for Windows or GParted for *nix) to do a direct copy to the external disk (external disk must be larger than slaved Mac HDD) and poof, you have a directly accessible backup that you can open in Finder. | |

| 1. I right clicked on the hard drive in finder and I clicked "backup now"
2. insert leopard disk
3. click install leopard
4. do as instructed until the top bar appears and click "utilities"
5. click on the "use time machine backup" and chose backup
6. wait for everything to install
