Deal with it. I am doing that design. Than you will have spent a large portion of your life on an eye-sore. I would advise finding a ship design you like (from a movie, book, on the forum, whatever), and improving it as much as you can. Look at my best ship, I literary took Pat's ship and rebuilt it,. It now has a different colour scheme, twice the efficiency in internal space, a shuttle and 12 2-story pods, more fire-power, and is three times the size. Not bragging, I'm not saying it's better than the original, for the very reason that it is not my own work, but I did improve it.

I am completely OK with other people basing their ships on things from movies and such, but I will not.

| Problem is our little mind cannot imagine something it never met before. Every time you try to think of something, even the wildest idea in the world you base it on something you know ... In other words your chances to come with something original are quite low. So if you copy from somewhere, why won't make your life easy and copy from something relevant like a starship from a movie ? You won't need to assemble it on your own from all those useless bits of information you have in your mind . On a more serious note try to avoid fully straight lines and 90 deg corners, it turns your ship into a true minecraft creation - a cube . | |

| An original design doesn't have to come out of nowhere. For instance, my newest and best ship takes elements of Andromeda Ascendant, the Achilles(?)(a Stargate ship that is somewhere else on this forum), a TIE Inerceptor, and a Batmobile, among others. | |

That's the craziest thing I've ever heard. What you're saying is that it's impossible to create an original idea. That's nonsense. ACH, build whatever the heck you want to.

| Just try to think about it: A person who was blind all his life, how would he imagine color ? He can only describe it as something he knows, I'd bet he will imagine it as a sound because he sees the universe by it's sounds. | |

That goes well to proving your point. This might explain it better: the human brain (and all other animals as well) takes experience and puts it into context to create something new out of something it has experienced.
