| Actually, I think you can change the world height without modding the client. *edit* Strange. The world height is hard coded, but made to be easily adjustable. Why don't they just go the rest of the way and make it a setting? | |

| Didn't they say something about getting infinitely harder to run if you raised the height limit?
Unless you guys are just talking about lowering the ground and leaving the sky right where it is.

| In certain areas, I agree, but I know nothing, nada, not even a spec of dust, in the matter of coding, so even if I were to voice my opinion, it would have little to no value.

| It can be done pretty easily. It used to be difficult, but back in 1.8.1, I think, Notch went though the code and modified every instance of a hardcoded sky cap to reference a single value in World.class. Well actually the first time he tried it he stored it as a constant, but then the compiler went and put it right back where it was in the code, so nothing changed on our end. In one of the 1.9 releases it was fixed. The weird part, though, is that the sky cap value is still hard-coded even after all that work to centralize it. The only difference is now it's hard-coded in one place instead of hundreds. | |
