I mean none of us, maybe except ACH and fr0st will ever be so important that we'll be monitored. And that whole NSA thing, well, is anyone even noticing or suffering from what they are doing? No.

So I'm going to assume you're upset because it sort of breaks those original laws of yours, can't remember what they were called. But in that case, start a fucking revolution. Really, your ancestors fucking want you to.

It's not really important enough. At all. Americans just need something to complain about so we don't get bored.

ummm... The Revolutionary War was over taxes. Not only are we being taxed more, we're being taxed on more absurd things... like effing WATER. They're taxing us on miles driven now, even though we are already taxed on gasoline. What's next? Air? Now our constitutional rights are at risk. If they can take rights and break laws that nobody in the country knew they could break, they'll realize they can do absolutely anything. People don't think it's important enough to start a revolution over because they've been conditioned to think like that ever since 9/11. Even if the government isn't lying about 9/11, they use the attack to justify some crazy things, like giving the police military equipment and armored vehicles, and the NSA BS. Some of us actually mean REVOLUTION when we say REVOLUTION.

Income taxes are already at an average of 40%. We're only a hop, skip and another round of business regulation away from economic socialism.

They've planned for the dollar to collapse some time in the next six months anyways. Remember when I said a few months back that Obama was going to set off nukes in South Carolina so that he could go to war with Syria and usher in martial law? Watch this quick video then go research it yourself and tell me we don't need a revolution. These generals were fired. I read about it on MSN when it happened. Both the second in command and first in command over nuclear warheads in two days.

vid:

Obama, or the people controlling him are more insane than George Bush.

Your conspiracy theories are amusing Razz. I wonder why cant you just accept the situe as it is and concentrate on more serious problems. Why would you bother about freedom of speech you do not use or guns you dont really need if there are social, economic and political problems much more important that would actually effect your life significantly. I mean yea I know for some reason you just CANT live without guns but you still didnt get out of the economic crisis ...

Lesse...

1. Freedom of speech? He's right, most Americans at this point are too apathetic.
...except it's a useful thing to have, so...

2. Guns? Eliminate any firearms not used by the military or police. suddenly, no one has them = no one needs them. Listen to Uncle Iv.

3. Socio-economic-political problems ARE just a touch more important than owning you prized handgun.

4. Don't be a conspiracy theorist, or the Illuminati (re: The Strigiforme) will stomp you.

I'm going to take a chance here.

The problem with guns and bans is that taking guns away will not help crime.

It could even be possible that the ownership of guns helps reduce crime in the U.S. Look a Britain, for example. High and rising crime rates and guns are banned. More and more violent crimes are being committed in Britain.

Gun's don't create crime. They make it easier (or harder). They are a non-issue.

We should be focusing on the socio-economic factors behind crime, not the agent itself. Banning guns is like treating a symptom- it won't do anything unless the cause is also eradicated.

Leave the guns alone, focus on the problems inherent in our society.

That's my two cents.

Making privately owned firearms illegal wouldn't stop crime, and anyone who thinks it would is an idiot—crime has been around a lot longer than guns have. What it would do is make it way harder to kill people, especially large numbers of people. The idea behind a lot of the partial measures, like banning guns with large magazines or fully automatic weapons or whatever is that, with a machine gun, it's very easy to walk into a restaurant or mall or school or any crowded place and mow down a dozen people in a couple of seconds. It's harder to do that with a semi-automatic that you have to stop and reload every five shots, and pretty close to impossible to do it with a machete. It's still possible that someone could manage to stab a dozen people in one go, but crowds tend to scatter after the first couple of people get slashed, so at least you'd have to catch them instead of just shooting them as they run. You can murder a single person just as well with a pistol as with an Uzi, but well-enforced bans on military-grade weaponry would at least mostly eliminate that particular scenario, which doesn't happen all that often but is a big enough deal when it does that it's worth dealing with.

Also, saying you need guns for either hunting or personal defense is bullshit. If you're that terrified of robbers, buy a dog. Dogs (or even just a large pet door in a visible place) are way more effective at deterring burglars than guns are. A gun lets you theoretically kill someone who's broken into your house, but it's a rare, rare burglar who'd want to try to rob a house with a pet door that could accommodate a sabertooth. Dogs are also fun in a way that guns really aren't. For hunting, give me a break. I'm sure you can find other ways to deal with your desire to cause pain, because no, I don't believe that you do it because you need food. The exception to this would be if you live in an area where dangerous wild animals are a serious concern, but there aren't really places like that in the US. Maybe if you live way up north somewhere you might worry about bears, but I dunno. There are easier solutions, like not provoking the bears.

So its illegal to hunt and kill stuff with your bare hands, but it's totally ok to shoot it from a distance?

I'm going to assume it's got to do with safety.
Would you like to stand right next to a huge bear or moose and try to strangle it?

Barehanded fishing is illegal in some places because they got tired of having to deal with people getting their fingers bitten off, but I've never heard of it being illegal to hunt anything else that way. Also, what kind of policeman would want to try to arrest someone who was willing to fight a bear with his hands?

EDIT: Seriously, though, guns are for pussies. If you want to hunt for the 'sport' or whatever, do it with a bow. Not a crossbow, those are also for pussies. A real bow. Or better yet, a sling. Not a slingshot, a sling. Or a spear. Although something did go by on Failblog not that long ago about a guy who killed a bear by biting its throat out. That method gets the Official LJS Seal of Approval:  cyclops

Also illegal.
We got too many hunting laws..

Also we don't hunt for sport, we hunt for food. Like 85% of all the meat I eat comes from the moose we kill in autumn.

Suuuuuuure it does. I completely believe that hunting your own meat is the most efficient way of gaining sustenance available to you.
