NROL-39 - Nothing is Beyond Our Reach

This mission insignia was seen on the side of an Atlas V fairing containing classified surveillance equipment belonging to the National Reconnaissance Office. The rocket it was on was launched a few days ago.

According to a few sources (including Wikipedia), it's a radar imaging satellite. It likely makes use of ground-penetrating radar to detect bunkers and such, hence 'nothing is beyond our reach'. But that's not the main problem. The problem is that the NRO (and somewhat by extension, the NSA and CIA) is so blatantly taunting us.

This has been on int for a while, I thought it was pretty funny in light of their previous mission patches.

So they'll be able to find my bunker in the middle of the woods when they want me dead.

They'd have to look there first, a faraday cage might do something against it. What frequency range is radar in?

It depends. Spaceborne radar systems generally operate in the 8 - 12 GHz range (which is already pretty broad), but there are dozens of different bands that could be in use, from 30MHz up to the ~250GHz range.

The American people are too stupid to realize this. They believe that the government is working in their best interests, and fail to acknowledge or even notice the egregious breaches of our rights. It's a slippery slope.

They have us believe that they will protect us from any threats and keep us safe.

The eventual end is a totalitarian government that exercises near-complete control over the public and personal lives of the citizens. By this point, the people have come to realize that the occasional shootings and bombings that occurred before weren't all that bad. But by then it's too late; dissidence has been crushed, and revolution is inconceivable.

America is already halfway along this slope, and 95% of people are already too apathetic towards it all to act.

Our right to own guns is already gone. Police are trained now to confiscate all weapons of all citizens on sight. It's not forced home inspections, so it won't cause as much of an uproar. >:l
