In Stargate, the cloaking field is a part of the design/manufacturer of the hull: the hull is the cloak. So when the cloak is active, the ship is invisible from the exterior.

So, when you have an open door of a puddle jumper randomly leading into what appears to be empty space, you'll know why.

I think that's a good idea, seeing as having a 'bubble cloak' would probably involve latching entities onto other entities, and MC doesn't appear to like that atm (boats) so they'd just warp out of the bubble, rendering the expense moot.

There should be a special alloy you must cover your ship in (another layer) that allows it to be completely invisible save for any doors or windows. When launched this (probably) black block turns into a perfect embodiment of the stars; for all intents and purposes you're completely invisible from a sufficient distance, but as soon as you enter combat enemies will notice the distortion.
