Some others, too. From now on you are to refer to this as the LEGION Code, and print it on a sheet of solid paper for future humans to try to decipher and worship.

| While us digital composers are watching from the sidelines, tampering with the very fabric of music, unnoticed and observant, wondering when the others will accept each other and become masters of all instruments at the same time, composed digitally. | |

I consider the digitization of instruments as cheating. That is why we are using them, because it is fast, cheaper, and easier: cheating.

| That takes away from the spirit and personality of music. Yes, you can make really cool things on the computer, but can you make a new style or sound like that? You can make an infinite amount of sounds and styles and tones on a real instrument, a computer you can make a lot, but there is still a limit.
Computers lack the ability to convey emotion that humans can do on instruments.

Computers lack the ability to convey emotion that humans can do on instruments. That to. For one who sees so much of the future, you seem to be missing the fact that we can already create music just from a program with no human involved, and it's better than most modern music.

Yes, but those type of evolution algorithms aren't music programs in the conventional sense. And most modern music isn't music, it's just meaningless noise.

That's debatable. From what I've seen the current strategy is to copy the styles of sampled scores and procedurally generate meaningful variations, in which case what you end up with is derivatives. - Lord Mackeroth wrote:

That's also debatable. There's more music being made right now than any other time in history, and the vast majority of it is not western pop culture. I don't think you can justify lumping it all together like that.
