How long have you been playing Minecraft?

Well? What's the oldest feature you remember being added? I have been playing since Alpha 1.1.2_01. I remember when they added the Nether.

Started early August, 2010.

According to Minecraftwiki I joined at around 1.0.17.

I got an account in August 2011, but had played previously on a friends computer in about Beta 1.5

I remember when they made signs work. It was such a momentous occasion, our server admin placed like 50 on spawn

I remember when on SMP, flood gates were quite common. My friend had an underground base which was on a beach. Water was mush more destructive when it expanded infinitely from the ocean. The dynamic water will just put a silly little puddle on the floor of your underwater dome. I'm too much lazy to go check what version of Alpha it was, so don't ask.

Uh...

There was no update that had both infinite water and block physics, I don't think.

Beta 1.4, but saw it at my friends house at 1.2 or 1.3

When I first played minecraft, I had to keep rendering view on tiny, so the world was MUCH more mysterious. The lack of music made it... scary.

I didn't know the time except by the light level. Creepers scared the sh** out of me. I was scared of everything. Cave noise made me board up my house and run.

I replaced my cobblestone house with smoothstone at one point, and I was proud of myself.

I made a lava moat, and it worked.

I didn't know peaceful difficulty existed.

I had never tampered with game-changing mods.

Those were my best minecraft days...

My memory is the horrible, so I can only safely say that I've been playing Minecraft since Alpha. I don't know the version of Alpha, nor even the year. So I can barely say anything for certain.

I played since beta 1.5 . Yea sort of new to the game but well before I joined it was just a bunch of blocks, after that it was a bunch of blocks plus Iv and a bit afterwards it became pistons and redstone stuff and dungeons and new biome rendering ... I miss the old one . Your best times in minecraft is your first try, many creepers are terrifying.

I got a cracked launcher from a friend the 12th of December 2011, I can remember it was in 1.8.1.

Still don't have premium..

You know that old video of the scale-model planet earth? That was the first video of Minecraft I ever saw, and the first server I ever visited.

Yeah, first time in minecraft is the best. I remember my first game in survival mode, twas 2 years back and I had just bought the game on a recommendation by a friend without any research at all.

Basically, I ran around like a jackass picking flowers and I had no idea there were even monsters, and I had fog at max because it was on one of the old Acer Aspire One netbooks...

At some point I must've heard a cave noise and got creeped the hell out, and thus started excavating a tunnel into the earth for protection...WITH MY HANDS. After my unlit 1x2 cavern was complete, I decided it'd be nice to have a little outpost on the surface, y'know? So I dug upwards from my little tunnel I had broken into the hill to the surface until I saw sunlight, then suddenly white and BOOM.

I swear, that almost gave me a heart attack xD

Minecraft used to be extremely fun to me in SSP. I was terrified of the mobs so I never laid a foot outside whatever shack I had made, and I considered finding iron to be a great achievement. I guess it's just one of those games that you eventually get tired of...once you stop crapping your pants whenever you see a zombie..

When I first played minecraft I stacked dirt couse I thought it might be needed in recipes , after that I started digging out gravel because it seemed to spawn like ore

Also my first house ever was dug out of a mountain with a nice view on a grassy pre 1.8.1 world ... I rebuilt the walls using cobble (Yea with that ugly texture it had before ) and put some glass so I can see the area. Best thing I didn't have to light up the area around the house as it was on a cliff . You also remember the first time you find gold and then redstone, I thought it's something rare as I found it very deep underground ... diamonds always eluded me though . Best part about pre 1.8.1 is the mob spawn rate, they came in giant swarms which was quite funny, especially if you had the pre 1.8.1 automatic bow .

^ This. I loved that bow. I understand why Mojang changed it, but I think that was a step backwards.

I joined MC with 1.8.1

I remember I joined just after the Nether Update. My first few worlds were epic, Minecraft was all so mysterious and fun. The game has completely changed moods since then, diverging into the separate paths of survival and building, instead of them being one and the same. I still like the game, but it is different.

Since the 1.8 update, the "Adventure Update", I've played Minecraft almost entirely for the architecture. I think I've had 1 proper survival world. It's amazing: I don't know the recipes for any blocks past the 1.8 update, I have no idea how to brew potions, and I find the cracking animation on blocks a novelty.

I really wish I could erase my mind of minecraft and start again at the alpha level and discover everything again. We all just know the game so well now there are no surprises, like the scary cave noise. That terrain generation was so awesome too, remember the Glacier seed anyone?

And Mackeroth, I remember grovelling for the admin of a server I got banned from so I could try out the Nether Update with all the people I knew..

It was something of a disappointment to me, personally. I and several others had been hoping for working mobs in it, but alas..

Yeah, I wish I could go back to my first world, where I built a house in the sky, and a little dirt compound, ah memories...

I still have my original world, with my dirt hut and my 3x3 plot of farmland, but I haven't played it in months. I don't think it's even been updated to the 1.8 world format.

I think I still have it, but I lost all my stuff in my inventory when it updated. Also, if you're looking for old terrain generation, old bows armor etc, the Old Days mod and NBXlite are really good for that, I just installed them and played around for a bit with them, and I could make a server for someone to run (my computer can't run a server and play), if anyone would be willing.
