| So, I was planning on creating a faction based off of MechWarrior/BattleTech clans. I wanted to see if anyone would be willing to join, or had any ideas to help me out. A: The organization. - Spoiler:
The Main leader, shall be named Khan, and will be the best fighter in single combat. The underlings follow the traditional Nato Naval ranks. You rise in rank by show initive, planning, and challangeing your officer if you think they are being unfair and you would be better.
B: Battles. 1: Single conbat/challanges - Spoiler:
This is a ritualistic combat, only allowed to clan/faction members, where the current highest ranking officer (or the highest ranking officer that's not being challagened) will judge who is most fit to win the fight. If you dislike their rulling, you can challange it, but the odds are stacked against you in that they can request almost anyone to fight you in that case. In either case, it will either be ship to ship, or on foot. In both, you are limited to the wepons picked by the one who was challagened. The challagner gets to pick the battlefield. In ship to ship, it'll be one person only battlecraft.
2: Regular combat. - Spoiler:
For this one, it applies to all not covered by the above. In this case, all the officers in comand of their own forces report to the CO, and then, they bet. The way this works is each of the reporting officers announce to each other how many forces they will take into combat, and their general stratagy. Whoever has the least forces, and isn't being foolish, as judged by the CO, get's to go in as the leader of that CO's forces, with the CO being able to overide any orders given.
Right now, that's all I have, or can think of. I know my spelling is a little bit horrible, and I'm not good at being gramaticly correct. But I think this is a fair faction system, and it's all based on being conservitive with your forces and battles, and also your resources...

| How will ressources be managed and which special ranks can be achieved? And how do you differ between distance and close range fighters?
If you want I join | |

| I think it's a bit weird to have the leader take the least troops in. I guess it shows bravery but...
Anyway, it seems like a cool idea.

| well, the reason for that is to conserve resources, which in the Mechwarrior/BattleTech stuff, the Clans are forced to due because they really only have the mechs and ships they brought with them in their exile, and the few they've managed to build since then... | |

| oh yeah, the predator mech very closely resembles the iconic Mad Cat Mech. They look great. We would be proud to have you as a battle engineer at the very least, if not full gerneral over engineering and design!
Oh! @Tyranid_Player I litteraly just saw your post. Resources, as in true Battletech Clans, will be fought over in rituallistic team battles. The genreals get togther and tell each other where the battle will be and what time, and then the defender tells how many forces he'll commit to the battle total. The attacker then follows the rules outlined in multiperson fighting in section B2. This is only for resources that all already owned by the clan. For resources gained through battleing other factions, the attacking CO gets to divy up the spoils to those they think were the best in the battle. The same really also applies for if the attacker wins in the inter-clan fights. As for the ranks, each possible branch gets it's own things, but it's pretty basic for them. The leader that reports to the Khan is call the general of _______. The catagories I can think of is Navy, Marines, Research, Desgin, Engineering, Medical. In most millitaries and other organizations, Research, Desgin, and Engineering would be considered sub branches of R&D, but I'm think of seperating them so one person doesn't have too much responabilty, and less points of failure too. The way we will distingush between the close and distance fighters would be type of wepons. Slugs, and lasers, AKA, things that have to be aimed well to hit going thousands of miles or even a few Cs (C means Light speed), would be close range. Missles and particle beams, things that are dangerous to use up close to your foes because of splash (Explosions, EMPs...) Would be distance. But most Clans, and Pilots know that the best situation is always keep your options open... AKA, Mix the wepons, just don't hit the Alpha strike button at point blank!
