| This is not an application. This is a request. Will you give me a tiny part to work on, such as escape pods, or a grenade, or anything small. This way, I can test to see wether I am a good enough coder, and then formally apply if I think I am, and if I am not able, then you are just where you were before. So: Any small projects you want me to attempt? | |

| Alright. Decompile Redpower and figure out Eloraam's strategy for fitting so many blocks into available ID slots. I'm thinking it probably has something to do with Tile Entities but it's probably more complicated than that. When you get that done, figure out how the Redpower wire rendering works and report back.
Knowing that would be incredibly helpful for us, and I would estimate it's roughly the level of sophistication you would be working with if you want to be a Futurecraft coder (just understanding that code, I mean, not necessarily writing your own).
Once we get to the content phase, we'll have more drudge work to do, but for right now it's all pretty high-level stuff (by Minecraft mod standards, anyway. The folks at GameDev probably just think we're being cute)

| Each block gets 4 bits of meta data, for a total of 16 possible states. At best that would cover orientation. From what I understand, Redpower has dozens or even hundreds of blocks using the same BlockID. | |

| Personally I would think that he just switched meta-data and a tile entity. But it might be more complex | |

| It's like being a necromancer and raising the dead thread back to a twisted, cruel sort of unlife. You posted on a old thread, thereby raising it to the top again. | |

That's what everyone who discovers necroposting wants to do... on the inside... ...deep inside...

Perhaps, but we can, with the press of a button, identify your IP address, and ban you from there.

| No Shiva created it. My question was: why would Shiva create the forum instead of just telling me of this great forum site. | |
