Well, every one was built with a Dark-Energy Fusion Beam Impulse Splicer, one that operates on massive power levels. They're giant battlestations, really.

But seriously, I do not think that by any stretch of the imagination today could have gone any worse.
Start with a greeting on FB at 11, just for the sake of courtesy. She sees it at about 12, and I guess ignores it for 9 hours. I ask about something at 9, y'know, to at least start a conversation. She then absolutely roasts me for asking her as opposed to the squad leader. Like, no joke, a literal lecture on the chain of command right then and there, and proceeds to correct me on some other breaches of etiquette (such as referring to the squad leader by her first name since no one calls her otherwise) as I try to salvage the situation. Finally I just cut my losses and withdraw.
There may be plenty of fish in the sea, but there's only one for me, and she's evidently under lock and key. So guys, fuck my life
(glad it didn't happen in person though)

Meh, I don't really like anyone else. I'm just reeling from what just happened. It was a pipe dream, yes, but I'd just thought...oh dear, stupor's wearing off, better stop typing before I spout something melodramatic.
Regardless, you guys tried to help and I really do appreciate that. Even if it did give my confidence a healthy bashing in the end.

It's a matter of principle. If I go for a girl, just any girl, it's not going to be because I hold any affection for them from the getgo, which just leads to either a prompt breakup or a stale relationship. This one was my age (by a little over a month, in fact), I just never thought to think whether she would reciprocate my feelings.
