Space combat should be exactly like this.

I just started re-watching it.

The story revolves around Captain Tylor, a person no one can seem to figure out whether he's a moron or an in-house genius. Basically it consists of his travels as he commands a beaten down Destroyer assigned to him since he accidentally rescued a retired war hero from terrorists. It's really an amusing show, and the space combat, while lacking in gfx, is superb in its mechanics and simplicity.

Linky.

The first two episodes are basically him gaining command of it. I didn't bother to check out the OVA ones, don't know what those are, really.

Oh, and the female cast are easy on the eyes. That should also be a prominent feature in Futurecraft rabbit

There are plenty of other characteristics of females that can be blown up to ridiculous proportions, but that aside I wasn't suggesting Futurecraft should have big breasted schoolgirls as you seem to be implying, Iv. Just...easy on the eyes. Nothing unrealistic.

The anime doesn't really capitalize on that too much, save for Harumi, but she's an infiltrator so it kinda makes sense. Take a look at one of the episodes to see what I mean by "easy on the eyes".

If you don't have the time to watch 5 minutes of it then my 'summary' won't be of much use, either.

You need to watch this.

Episode summary:
A princess of an enemy state is being held "hostage" on Tylor's ship. She claims she is carrying the captain's child and the misunderstanding causes in-fighting to break out onboard the ship for poorly justified reasons. After being given a lecture on things which should be obvious to a small child, she admits she's not carrying Tylor's child and returns home without further incident.
This episode is also notable for lacking anything which could be construed as a space battle.

Why the hell did I need to watch that?

TV shows tend to do that...

Because it's perhaps the most amusing episode of them all, that's why. I never promised any space battles in that particular link.

Fun fact, I can't be banned so long as I am a super moderator.
And "construed" is not a bad word.

Shiva can ban you, Forumotion can ban Shiva (well probably would take down the whole forum in that case).

If I am right, hyperlite keeps requesting to ban the only person interested in and capable of doing the engine for FC, which is the reason this forum even exists.
In other words:
hyperlite wants to take down the forum!

Turns out OVA is the sequel series to Captain Tylor. Just watched episode 1 of that and I'm..

disgusted. Essentially now we've got a whole Twilight love triangle set up between Lieutenant Commander Yuriko and Azalyn, except since it's a guy this time he's now apparently an evil two-timing player. An enemy cruiser commander that may as well be an admiral, Dom, who thought really highly of Captain Tylor in the original series now pretty much hates him. And just to make things all the more confusing, Admiral Ulfine, the guy who kept trying to kill Tylor for his incompetence and served a major plot point for the original series now is somehow totally cool with his existence...

Oh, and Lieutenant Yamamoto all of a sudden lusts for Yuriko. Heaven knows why.

If anyone here cared enough to watch the series, I'd recommend not going on to OVA...hoping all this crap clears up in ep2, if not... Crying or Very sad
