Fanfic writers scare me. I am still emotionally scarred from when I found a fanfic page on Redwall. I was 8 then, so I had no clue that fanfic is evil.

Not really I just got really curious after seeing the video and the comments on the video. So I did the dumbest thing ever, googled the phenomena, and was convinced to at least try it.

Fanfic is almost always bad. There are good things (The guy who's making some of the art for Star Wars: Essential Guide to Warfare was a fan artist until Lucasfilm realized he was better than their guy), but it's mostly terrible. There's a reason they use actual authors for their books.

Fiction written by fans isn't universally bad. In fact, I've seen works that far surpass the quality of some Star Wars books. *cough* Jedi Trials *cough*
But then you also have those starring Anisoka *shudder* and other disgusting pairings - THAT's when it goes bad. You can't just group them up and call them all crap.

Fan made content (AKA mods in our case) can be generally better than the original if you know where to find those and sort out the content chilfish, unserious people made. The classic example I give: You won't recognize the 12 years old Freespace in it's shiny new spectacular mods. Also here. We will tolerate most groups, and as long as they observe the rules, we will not harass them. This goes for bronies. If you feel a person is to crazy or is disrupting the Fourms, PM me, or one of the other DEV. We will not gang up on one person because they like a TV show about ponies.
