8th grade is 13, not 14.

Is it young and foolish? Probably. But that's their decision, not anyone else's.

I find it interesting how the school places pressure on youths to engage in such activities for the sake of a few bucks profit on prom tickets.

Ok so according to some of you I probably blew it because whale on the ship I nagged her like 10 times trying to get a strait answer. Hopefully this isn't the case, but who knows?(except her)

Well you could do the generic try to win her thing.. my suggestions on this:
1.) Well you could do the whole make her jealous thing
2.) Force her (idek) (jedi mind trick?)
3.) In my own experience just move on... to her friends. (jk about the friend thing)

Just go with my advice, and make her something. Or, you could try your hand at making pheremones, but that could backfire. But seriously, make her something. The ladies dig it when someone hand makes them something.

In highschool, I was a pretty popular hockey player AND I was known as the guy who was smarter than the teachers. I have a LOT of experience with teenage girls if you know what I mean. Of course it helped that I was tall and in good shape, but here's what I know.

This is my basic formula for highschool (based on grades 10-12, because I absolutely hated the kids I met in 8 and 9)

1. 90% of getting a date is initial presentation, you need to come off as confident but remember that you need to make her want to go out with you. I've found it helps immensely if you can keep them laughing; no girl wants to go out with Mr. Deep in high school, most of them just want a good time.

1.5. DON'T BE A S.A.P.!!! Goes hand in hand with number one. Pestering, embarrassing yourself unintentionally, spouting useless shit, repeating yourself until someone acknowledges you, and never shutting up are all signs that you may be a Socially Awkward Penguin and need to join a contact sports team/grow some balls.

2. The other 10% - the finish. This is everything you do between asking her out and the date. Don't be too clingy, but don't be a stranger, either. It's a tricky balance that can't be taught, only learned. Because of your age, I'd say err on the side of clingy for now, but don't overdo it. The key is to keep her interested in you for the month without breaking rule 1.5, it's not as hard as it sounds, but you need to find a style that works for you. I rocked the sex appeal.

You probably did mess it up by pestering her, though. If a girl says she doesn't know, you wait 3 days to a week and ask her then. ACH0225 is right, making her something is good, just make sure it isn't a piece of shit or anything stupid. What to get her depends on the girl;don't ask me for advice on that one. If she still says the same thing, it means NO. Find a new date.

Above all, trust your instincts. And whatever you do, DO NOT be yourself, be what she wants you to be. Just not her bitch. You don't want to be that guy.

Yeah, if you were bugging her for an answer and she didn't give it, it's probably because either she's waiting for someone else to ask her, or she's too nice to say no to you. Assuming you're attractive enough, I think you should go ask at least 3 or 4 other girls and see what you get. If you don't get a girl to go with you this time, its no big deal, at least you go to a school that takes its 8th graders on a cruise for its field trips...

Yeah don't get whipped. NOBODY likes that guy. I have a friend who had spent the last ~2 years being whipped by his girlfriend. Didn't hang out with any guys at all! Basically had no friends once they broke up.
