| so after light years of travelling and the few armada in your way you make it to a enemy planet, you send your troops down using drop ships and drop pods, but how will you control the massive npc army will it be something a RTS will a top down view of the battlefield while your safely controlling your army from your ship, or other? | |

| More along the lines of a FPS. With all the extra NPCs added in. | |

| Unless someone can do it entirely with lua scripts, I don't see the RTS thing happening. | |

| That would bring a whole new level to the mod. But I think it should be more like C&C Renegade, or Futurecop LAPD where you tell them where to go and such.
fr0st, someone on the MC forums made a WiP mod to control mobs, were you to simply place the player in an elevated position and group the soldiers into platoons/companies it'd work quite well imo.

| Nah, just have chat. Maybe add a Ping tool. That way, I can say: "CAPTURE THAT BASE" and ping the base, and my underlings know where to go. | |

| If the keyword system with AI interaction gets made that'd be nice.
Come to think of it, why the heck would you capture a planet? Not to say the infrastructure for doing so not be put in should someone want to do it, but I mean there's no reason to take a planet intact, just bomb the heck out of it then use your mining platform to extract the scraps.
How will space combat work, too, then?

How will space combat work, too, then? I might capture the planet intact because I want to move my people in, or exploit it's preexisting infrastructure, or liberate enemy assets on the surface, or use it as a forward base, or study the enemy's cities and culture, or capture blazes to release onto enemy ships, or just have the civilian population, or to hold the entire planet hostage, or use it as a training ground for my forces, or any number of other reasons. That's not to say that I won't ever glass a planet from orbit just for the sake of doing so, but I don't think it should be the only, or even the most common, choice.

e: Woah, I must've been tired this morning. Let me rephrase that: "Not to say a system for such an endeavor shouldn't be put in as some might want to do so"

How will space combat work, too, then? even if you turn the planet into a burning crater I don't think your problems would end there if there smart they would't put all there troops out on the surface but in giant under ground bunker system so you would still have to send troop to clear out there bunkers

| No, we just bomb the bunkers too. If they're that deep in the crust then we'll just blow up the planet since they'll have already exploited it. | |

blowing up a planet is a little... overpowered and what happens when there's no planets left and should probably be left out of the mod for balance sakes

| Again, what about little Jimmy who just got on the server that day and the planet is obliterated? | |

True, but that would be very time consuming. The might have difficulty removing the lava core of the planet though.
