| Subject: [Idea] Specific Cargo storage. Fri Mar 30, 2012 11:31 am | |
| Hi, I have actually been following this mod for a very long time now, before this forum was made (I think). I am going to present a nice little idea that I have been thinking of... Whenver I play an 'economy' server, or a 'town' server, it becomes quickly apparant that the reality of the economy is that it does not function how you would like it! It is highly difficult for any player to gain any significant standing in any trading market, due to the simple reasons that people either are fully autarkic (self suffficiant) or do not specialise in their trade and just run a 'General store'. (bear with me, this will be relevant). Futurecraft could easily support a dynamic economy with a few features implamented. Force certain items to be stored in a certain area. (This includes cargo ships). For example, food has to be kept in a cool area or it will spoil. And ammunition must be kept in a safe container. Doing this would force fleets of cargo ships to specialise in what they carry. This would very much help the economy as factions could not just build one crappy cargo ship an suddenly have the means to transport delicate goods. In the time of warfare, heavy armoured munition ships may have to be called in to delived arms. Just think, you spot a cargo ship that is transporting explosives in an unsafe way... BOOM! ;D ...or perhaps... you spot the enemies fleet of food ships, an excellent advantage for you in war. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My ideas (some of them are more random than others) To be honest, many of these ideas are trivial... the big ones in my opinion are the transportation of food, weaponry and ship parts.TNT and other explosives must be kept in secure (flame proof) containers, these containers should be expensive to make in bulk, making the market of arms trade a serious deal and not just somthing that anyone can take up immediatly. Food should be kept in cooling boxes in order to preserve them, this could be in the from of modern day fridge... or if you want to be more futuristic, it could be in the form of a cryogenic chamber. Enchanted weapons must be contained in an obsidian case, as to preserve their enchantments when travelling through space. Liquids must be contained in barrels/drums... if you wanted to be even more detailed, you could demand the seperation of water, lava and milk. Eggs (this is only really appropriate if you are going to make the spawning eggs obtainable) should be kept in padded boxes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Others ideasLeonidas8227882 - You could also add if the safe container is hit so many times, the laser can penetrate and make a huge booooom. For food wise, if the Light Space Gun penetrates the food cargo section, whatever chests in a 5 block radius will have all the food inside of them burned or destroyed. These ideas will encourage more escorts because if one of your ships is holding 3 stacks of tnt has their cargo penetrated, big boom and lots of resources lost. Same for ammo -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think it would add to the gameplay and make it more interesting Feed back is welcome

| i like the cargo storage idea cos it would make trading far more interesting.
i think one of the devs had the idea of people being able to create their own currency's.

| Back on topic:
I think that the separation of goods is an interesting idea. However, it won't force ships to specialize at all, they'll just have three fridges and 3 munitions storage boxes apposed to 6 chests.

| i kinda like the idea of cargo to be stored in each cargo pods. and the cargo pods being made for certain cargo.
you should also be able to reject the pods. examlpe
you are flying on your new transport. just got the job, out of nothing a bunch of space pirates come warping right to your ship. your pods are filled with bombs, as your training told you. you should press the reject bottom and set the enigine to lightspeed.
a dumb pirate shots cargo enough times and he kills them all

| I rather like this idea, it would make cargo raids more tactical, but it would make it much easeier for pirates to simply know wich container to steal.Prehaps if you could make a locked version that requires a key or redstone pulse?
All in all i think its a great idea.
