Hello Guys, I want to introduce you to a Project i have been working on.
Its a Modular Space ship.
It is a Core Section and severel Modules you can add. Every Module has a predefined function.
I have finished the Core Section to 80%. I working on the dock mechanism right now. It contains Pistons who connect the Core to the Module. I dont know how the flying will be added to the mod but regarding to the Zepelin mod you fly with the core section in the right destination to dock to a module and activate the Pistons.
I have 3 Modules Finished so far:
-Cargo Module (Its one of the bigger modules to maintain enough space for cargo
-Passenger Module (with two versions one for short range travel with seats for several passengers and a long travel version with rooms for the travelers with beds and stuff)
-Broadside Torpedo Module (An military Module to deliver a hail of torpedos to the enemy)

Several Modules are planned to build.
The Core Section will always be the same. It contains the Bridge, the machine room, beds for the core crew, the Engine, the shield generator (if something like this will be added in FC), the Airlock to dock at stations and bigger ships (maybe a standard airlock design for all Ships would be great in order to allow the docking of every ship on every station and so on), the docking mechamism for the modules and the engine, Due the docking process the core section power generator will be connected to the module.

I will add pictures soon.
What do you think about this design thought? just speak right away

Here is the First Version of the Modular Spaceship. it may look a bit odd but with a section added it look rather fancy.

Here you can see a sideview with the different parts of the core section.

Here you can see the huge Engine but its needed for its modular design aspect.
