| To all Murikans, 150 years ago the great Premiere Lincoln set aside the last Thursday in November to be a day to give thanks to God for everything that we have. Screw foreigners. | |

| I heard about your celebration on the radio yesterday. It was an European tradition to be grateful to God, and the puritans brought it with them to America. The puritans wouldn't have survived the first winter without help from the Indians though, so thanksgiving is really all about celebrating how the Indians helped the puritans, and how the puritans returned the favor by enslaving the Indians and taking their land. Due to this many Indians protest the celebration of thanksgiving. | |

Half the items on the menu today wouldn't have even been available back then (especially the most iconic part, le turkey)...while it was originally pushed by a woman with some really misguided perceptions of how the first Thanksgiving went, that's only really a connection pressed by the public educational system for the sake of having a blast to the past kind of deal. Now it's a time for getting together with family and just being thankful for your lot in life. And also getting stuffed. The two tend to be related Anyway, happy late thanksgiving everyone. Couldn't post yesterday 'cuz I'm in Wisconsin on a farm with only one compooter hooked up to the internet.

| Daynel, we didn't screw the Indians over until centuries later. IIRC it was the English who did it anyway. | |

| People say that thanksgiving is ironic as the Americans enslaved the Indians.
But let's not forget the French celebrate a massacre (Bastille day).

But let's not forget the French celebrate a massacre (Bastille day). That is something completely different. That was a revolution and with good reason, the people were oppressed as fuck. Trust me I just had to do a presentation about it for school I'm almost an expert at the subject.

It was the Protestant pilgrims and Puritans that moved away from England because of Anglican oppression. The Natives have always gotten the short end of everything, since the Spanish discovered the Americas, it was no different with British settlers. Just a few years after the "First Thanksgiving,"the Powahatan Wars happened, which weren't nice at all. Damn, I never thought I'd use what I learned in APUSH.

| The Spanish were completely justified in wiping out the Aztecs. Hell, it was almost an accident. | |

I never said anything about the Aztecs, and they were most definitely not the only people the Spanish fucked up.
