Cyber Punk - Night City

Earth. Homeworld of the human race. The machinations of humanity have permanently altered this world. The seas are a chemical witches' brew, radioactive craters pockmark much of the world's land area, and The atmosphere is continually poisoned by huge factories.

This is the world of Cyber Punk.

Where is Night City? What is its real name? Doesn't matter. It is a typical city of the current day and age. This is the year 2014, and you are one of the many humans still surviving (mostly) on the surface of Earth.

Night City is a strange combination of pristine and abandoned. The Inner City, full of gleaming skyscrapers, clean streets, corporate housing, and lots and lots of corporate security. Those in there are filthy rich.

The outskirts of Night city are a blasted, burned-out, and completely wrecked shadow of the Inner City. This is where the Boostergangs, operatives, and savages live and kill.

1. No metagaming. You know and can use the information your character has.

2. no powergaming. The only way you can force a character (other than your own) to do something is by grabbing him/her and moving them around manually.

3. No OP characters, items, or abilities. No one is a god.

4. Obey the GMs. I will start as the GM, and others will be brought aboard as time goes on.

5. Wait for acceptance on your character/item/whatever before posting with it.

Night City is full of differing types of life.

Boosters:
-An exceedingly common scourge, Boosters make (significant) use of cybernetic "enhancements" to replace much of their flesh-and-blood bodies. They kill wantonly, and are not limited by conscience, human strength, or humanity.

Techies:
-A common and rather more human group, these people take the technology-repair jobs. This often puts them in the employ of the Boosters. Oddly safe, as the Boosters like their cyberware to work. They tend to get the best of the Outer City.

Medias:
-These are the reporters, cameramen, and journalists in the city. Seen as little more than a nuisance by most, they tend to be ignored.
(NOTE: These will all have contacts and links that are useful to people in Night City. Don't underestimate.)

Corporates:
-Found in the Inner City, these are the middle-to-high ranking corporate executives in the big companies. Very safe living, good wages, and a tendency to not give a damn about anyone who isn't part of your corp.

Inquisitors:
-A religious cult that claims cyberware is evil and must be purged. Unsurprisingly, often at odds with the Boostergangs. Surprisingly skilled at combat, and dangerously skilled at martial arts.
(NOTE: All Inquisitors are treated well by their "brothers and sisters", other memboers of the order. All are well-trained in combat.)

Angels:
-The common term for the few humans who have not "augmented" themselves with cybertech, but who don't side with the Inquisitors. So named for their tendency towards compassion, friendliness, and also for the fact that they seem to have mastered flight. All Angels appear to have wings, a fact that confuses many. Several scientists have attempted to find out how this happened, only to be booted out of the Angel's home.
(NOTE: The Angels do indeed have biological wings. Will be explained later.)

That is how Mike was, living in the present, thinking of the target, or maybe he drank too much. Either way he wasn't in his boss's office nor had a gun in his hand.

Mike was a former SWAT member, later recruited by EnVision. He was assigned to a special unit within the corporate internal security. At first he was tasked with guarding a corporate lab compound where EnVision scientists worked on development of key technology. Soon enough however the corporation reassigned Mike to a new unit. This special unit was something far bigger than a mere corporate security service ...

It was a team of hand-picked agents. Each agent passed harsh training and was equipped with the latest technology available on the market, all designed to give these EnVision agents an edge over any opponent they might face. Mike was also cybernetically augmented with EnVision's latest technology. Mike's body was modified to become a combat machine, his strength and speed was increased, he could shoot steadier and more accurately, his reflexes and sight were improved, he could see thermal emissions, he could become invisible, jump higher and fall further. He was superior to an average human in any possible way, however mike requested his body not to be fully replaced with mechanical parts, unlike the other agents who pushed the limits even further.

As part of this team mike secured ultra-secret EnVision facilities, protected the CEO himself, as well as participated in corporate espionage and sabotage, a common sight these days, however it all changed one day. Mike didnt suffer from moral dilemmas up to this point. Mostly protecting important assets or participating in the corporate espionage he never had to point his gun at civilians, he was just making a living for himself. One day his unit was ordered into the outskirts of the night city. Mike went among the poor, abandoned structures, waiting for orders from HQ. When the orders finally came in he knew he couldn't follow them: They were ordered to sweep the area and "collect" all children around the age of 12 they could find in the area, in other words kidnapping. Mike refused to follow the order, and so HQ ordered the agents to bring Mike back and continue with their mission, however mike resisted. In the firefight that followed mike killed all of his former squad members, trying to buy as much time as possible to the locals to run away from the fighting area, however after holding for an hour Mike was captured by the second squad that was sent to the area.

When brought back to the corporate grounds he was locked away below EnVision HQ where he was interrogated, then in order to return "corporate property" the augmented body parts were torn from his body and he was thrown back into the prison cell below the compound. Mike didn’t really know what happened that night, however someone turned off the power inside the facility and opened the cell doors below it. Mike managed to escape from EnVision where he was sure to be executed to prevent leakage of confidential material.

However Mike's body was in poor shape. He lost his left arm, his internal organs were damaged badly. mike thought about that night when he was ordered to kidnap the children, he knew that after he was captured the second squad probably managed to "collect" some of them, maybe by his fault. After what that corporation had done to him he sure wanted revenge , however what even more he wanted was to figure why did EnVision need these children kidnapped that night, something very dark and very deep was happening over there , he had to stop it ,not only for the sake of revenge. However he was in bad shape. If he wants to actually accomplish what he plans he needs to find allies...

Ranks:
Squire: Recruit. Studying and training about combat.
Knight: Step up from recruit,official member. After that,he can choose a "specialization"

Martyrs: Those who sacrifice their all for their cause.
Redeemers: Those who wish to bring the "monsters" back into the "light".
Innocents: Those who refuse to prejudge the "monsters"

Avengers: Those who seek revenge for the harm done by "the creatures of the dark"
Judges: Those who mete out punishment based on how monstrous the "creatures" have acted.
Defenders: Those who safeguard and protect the innocent from the "darkness".

After the angels appeared,some things were not clear as they were.Thus many orders were revived from ancient times. The Order of the White Lotus in China,The Brotherhood of Light coloquially called "The Inquisitors" in the Western area. While they fight against "damaging the property of god" [Modifications on the body],religion turned out to be a motivation in a world were values were changed and ethics were no more than a word.
