PostSubject: The Network   The Network Icon_minitimeSat Oct 05, 2013 11:28 pm

After a massive Station was discovered orbiting the Kayleid System's black hole, nearly every nation pitched in to discover what the hell this was.

And maybe, just maybe, they could root out the Man in Black. After the Gamma Incident, the Core Meltdown, Supernova SR-4, the Chain Rebellions, the Parallel Delusion, the massive Reality Tear, Lambda Leonis, 376-Cyngi, Paragon Lost, the ARK Theory, and countless other horrifying events, the galactic community agreed on one thing- The Man in Black needed to be stopped at all costs.

The expedition consisted of one ship. One ship, built by the Skytherian's advanced ARC shipyard, designed by the highest-level Strigiforme planners, outfitted with the most advanced technology possessed by every nation, and crewed by the most gifted individuals in every race. Whether soldiers or scientists, strategists or engineers, the most talented individuals were present.

The ship was massive- it rivaled the Aiigaiion in size. It was advanced- it held nearly every experimental technology and the most expensive equipment ever produced. When fully operational, it could rival the entire Strigiforme Armada and Federation Armada combined and come out on top, using all of it's abilities to the limit.

But of course, with only the crew and ship, the limits would never be reached. What was needed was an AI- an AI that had never been constructed on a scale such as this before. An AI that would rival the highest Bio-mech's possessed by the Skytherians. In a collaborative effort between the Skytherians and Librarians, they made this AI. Housed on a small quantum box, and powered by a combination of quantum computing, silicon computing, bio-mechanical computing, and trans-dimensional computing, the AI was the most advanced and powerful one ever created. It was inputted with a carefully selected personality, one gleamed with aspects from every race. With such a personality, it wasn't restricted by normal AI limiting procedures- it had full control of the ship, and its functions.

With such an AI in the ship, the logistics of the ship were easier- the ship only had to hold the talented individuals selected from each race. After final preparations, the ship was sent off to the system. Before leaving, it had to be named. The AI had the best suggestion- "Illusion's End," which won almost unanimously.

The expedition, given the technology, was meant to go smoothly. But something's wrong. Just before entering FTL, the AI noted an extreme increase in trans-dimensional activity and placed a red alert. Nothing occurred and Command informed us that everything was fine, so we jumped. But we're still jumping. The ship has been in FTL for seven days now. We would've reached the Kayleid system six days ago- the AI informs us that the jump tunnel has not ended yet.

And something else isn't right either. Consistent reports have been going around of something falling outside the ship, falling around the ship. It's constant, and everywhere. Nothing is showing up on sensors, and the AI has no solution. It only seems to be in the distance- all attempts at nearing it using short range ships have failed.

It appears to be characters. Characters, of an unknown language, falling around us as we travel through FTL.

Name: Kyyric Gyytraillicatyytriil. Most people call him Kyyric.

Age: 87

Species: Strigiforme

Gender: Male

Talents: (Why were you chosen for this): One of the most promising new Strigforme commanders. Had highest scores in officer group, led ships on several campaigns with high degrees of success. Also decently disliked by the current high admirals, this is sort of a banishment.

Flaws: (Remember- you were chosen for your exceptional qualities. If you suffer from, say, schizophrenia, or are largely insane, you must have a really good reason for being chosen): Political. He's here for the rank and prestige, not to help all Strigiforme-kind. He wants that captains chair.

Short Bio: Born to a wealthy family on the moon of Cuuyth, Kyyric was raised with the best of everything. He joined the military because that's the only real way to get power, and he wants power. Raised in military academies, he's versed in every war from the Cuuyth Precinct-Civil war to now.

Application:

Name:D'lar Alansiar
The Network 2e4c0aa
Age:67

Species:Unknown; child of D'riqnar and D'laria.

Gender: Origionally:Female, Current:Unknown.

Talents: Immense psychic abilities; surpassing D'laria herself. eg.Able to suck the soul from several individuals in rapid succession without too much trouble; can save up psychic energies for larger bursts.

OOC: The Psychicness is actually more like skyrim magic with some telekenisis thrown in.

Flaws: (Remember- you were chosen for your exceptional qualities. If you suffer from, say, schizophrenia, or are largely insane, you must have a really good reason for being chosen) Has highly unstable genetic coding due to the accident in her youth, and angers easily.

Short Bio:
The daughter of 2 rulers of the Valyrian dominion; she became a research scientist in her early 20's. When she was conducting research into the Valyrian physiology to try to reclaim there physical form of old; when they had perfect skin and elven features; there was an accident. She had volunteered to be the test subject for the most advanced experiment yet; on a human form. The test seemed to be going well until one of the components overloaded; transforming D'lar into something else; although half of her body was the perfect form she had dreamed of; the rest of her was a demon, and she was a cold ruthless killer. And everyone in the lab was dead. After the doctors had managed to capture her to give her back her memories; it emerged that the insanity caused by plasma addiction that plagued the Valyrians was gone, and was replaced by a cold, ruthless logic. Although she still possessed a temper. When it emerged how powerful her psychic abilities were, D'laria sent her on this mission, hoping that her genetic code would be corrupted, and she would die.

Name: Keras

Age: 23

Species: Skytherian

Gender: Male

Talent: Stage one Skytherian Psyche (Psyches being the term to individuals such as Zero or Grey, but stage one meaning that the individual is yet to master their power).

Flaws: due to an previous horrific accident, Keras relies upon a lot of cybernetic implants to survive. While the majority of his implants have not detrimental effect, he has a microreactor attached to his back, and its support systems are somewhat bulky, and give him difficulty walking.

Short bio: Keras is the youngest in the line of Zero, and is the only living individual in Zero's bloodline possessing Psyche capabilities. Keras's potential went unknown until he reached the age of 11, when he threw a maverick bio mech from one side of his town to another. This incident attracted a lot of attention, both from the Skytherian government, who placed him under observation, and from other, more nefarious groups.

At the age of 14, Keras fell victim to an explosion caused by one of these groups, losing his right arm at the elbow, his right leg, left foot, and severely damaging his spine and several vital organs. His psychic capabilities kept him alive just long enough for experts to repair his body, but they discovered that his implants were being constantly drained of power whenever he used his abilities, so a micro reactor was implanted in him to stop these components failing.

Keras was selected by the government to assist with the mission, as they deemed him less valuable than the other Psyches.

Name: Colonel James Hackett

Age: 42

Species: Human with cybernetic implants.

Gender: Male

Talents: (Why were you chosen for this): James Hackett holds degrees in Strategic Military Doctrine, Tactical Military Doctrine, Psychology, and Mathematics. All of this makes him the perfect leader for a brigade of Confederation Marines, which he was. At age 35, he became the youngest leader to command a unit of Marines, which was the 4th Mechanized Marine Brigade.

Flaws: (Remember- you were chosen for your exceptional qualities. If you suffer from, say, schizophrenia, or are largely insane, you must have a really good reason for being chosen): Dependent on his implants to keep him alive, can only survive for 1 hour without them. He is also used to having his orders followed, so he might not get along with some people.

Short Bio: James Hackett was born on Cyrania III. His father was Grand Admiral Steven Hackett, the supreme commander of Confederation Naval Forces. As you can imagine, he had a military upbringing. He started out in the navy, and reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander. But he wasn't happy in the navy. So he asked for a transfer to the Marines. He started out as a Major, due to that being the corresponding rank as a LT CMDR. After a year, he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and was given command of 3rd Engineers Battalion, 2nd Marine Division. At age 35, he was promoted to colonel and given command of 4th Mechanized Marine Brigade. He then retired at age 40, due to a NeoRoman artillery shell hitting way to close to him. That's why he has cybernetic implants to keep him alive. Now, as one of the most skilled officers in the Confederation Marines, he was sent on this mission.

Kadren, you're going to have SERIOUS problems later on, for being secluded. Just a heads up.

D'riq, you're also going to have serious problems, though not as much.

Name: Janur-Kat

Age: 60

Species: Ancient Empire, Recon unit.

The Network Maquette_image1

Gender: None, but a male personality.

Talents: Very intelligent, very casual, extremely good Sniper.

Flaws: He is afraid of being alone, so he always carries a small drone around.

Short Bio: He was built in the first intergalactic war, when the enemy brought really small, but dangerous artillery units. The job of the recon series was to find and neutralize those. Janur-Kat was one of the last recon units that have been built. Although his first combat mission was his last one, as the war was over, he managed to destroy more than 50 artillery units. Even recon units that were built before, did not have so many kills. That was the reason why the great AI decided to make Janur-Kat a general, but Janur rejected the offer, as he did not want to sit there and look at the battle, but fight in it.
After the reactivation, there was no war to fight in. So Janur went to the research faction, to find out what happened to the great constructors, who built the Ancient Empire. This time the great AI gave Janur the opportunity to accompany the brave researchers of the expidition to the Kayleid system, as Janur wasn't just a good recon unit, but also a brilliant archeologist.

Can we do theme songs? I like theme songs.

The Network VxmHqf3
(hands are hard)

Name: Kheel'Ahali "Needle"

Age: 22 Solar years

Species: Feles

Gender: Female

Talents: Incredibly intelligent, quick to learn. Has knowledge of feles slip FTL drive mechanics, computer systems, advanced weaponry, medicine, some training in hand-to-hand and ranged combat, high-level swordsman, agile due to small stature.

Flaws: Tends to be forgetful of things to which she doesn't pay full attention, easily bored, small for a Feles (1.6m), very young, still maturing, some might consider her moral code less than exceptional.

"Short" Bio: Ahali was born to a direct offshoot of a minor Noble clan, the Kheel, which governed a small section of space on the periphery of Batiss territory. This wealth allowed her to put to use her remarkable intellect and learn many skills. At ten years, she had, somewhat illegally, earned a fortune rivaling that of her own clan, which she was forced to relinquish. When she was fifteen, a dispute between the Kheel and another minor Noble house decimated her homeworld. She served alongside her clan's militia during this time, and became a talented warrior, though House Kheel was dissolved and stripped of its power. Her immediate family was lost during the dispute and Ahali relocated to an inner colony. Here, she gained notoriety as a businesswoman and infamy as a thief. She was jailed two years after her relocation and was promptly released because she had the region's entire economy under her figurative thumbs and much more influence than anticipated. Rebuilding her clan she found boring, as she found most workings of government; she only attempted it for two years. While browsing a secure government databank, she came across the Kayleid files and sent her resume under the name "Needle."

tl;dr: she was born wealthy, her clan was forced off of her homeworld, lost fortune, gained it back, moved to inner colonies, went into and got out of prison, used 1337 hax to get into the mission (she would have been added anyway, probably).

Theme song anyway:

Talents: (Why were you chosen for this) : Being the developer of many technologies, its a brilliant inventor and researcher in many areas, being a general scientific asset. Good with machines and with basic military training from obrigatory military service of one year

Not many flaws, only a minor problem with focus.

The Network Tumblr_m13hn4HztJ1r9kmt5o1_250

If you wish...

Haxus watched the sub-space tunnel roll by as he watched from the main observation deck. Several mechanisms clicked inside him as he watched, trying to analyze the distortions the tunnel was seeing.

It wasn't a normal sub-space tunnel, that was for sure. It was too long to be one, and the patterns were all wrong. Dimensional analysis confirmed that. Something else was at play here.

Another click. Haxus opened a panel on the wall- inside were several canisters. Heavily-shielded lead canisters containing pure crystals of Uranium Hexaflouride. Highly toxic. He made sure nobody else was around when he needed to refuel. He took one canister and closed the panel. He turned his head around so he was facing the wall behind him, and opened a panel on his back. He took out the spent canister and deposited that in another wall panel before inserting the new canister. Once finished, he turned his head back towards the subspace tunnel.

As he watched, something streaked by. Another one of the characters, of which nobody could identify. The AI didn't even see them.

Were they an illusion?
