This is redundant and fallacious. Forums are made for intelligent debate - the only purpose this thread could serve is as a specific part to encourage flame wars, which are against the rules.

I keep hearing theories and ideas on how 9/11 was a government setup to give the public a reason to attack the Taliban in Afghanistan or something. They point to things like the planes being unmarked, the fact that Al Queda initially denied responsibility, etc etc.

Here's one of the deeper explanations.


During WWII, Japan was plundering a lot of gold and valuables from their conquered nations, like Korea and China. The U.S captured one of their islands during the war and came across this cache. They illegally repossessed it and used it to fund a lot of iffy government ventures, like chemical/biological weapons. When they were finished with it, they put them in long-term maturing accounts to already wealthy billionaires to gain more money.

When these accounts matured, however, they would have to be reviewed and renewed, and the bank people would discover the illicit funds. The paperwork was being handled in the Twin Towers and the Pentagon section that was hit. In order to cover up the money, the government took the planes and crashed them into the tower's floor and the Pentagon to prevent the money from ever being discovered.


It looks like another conspiracy theory, I'm on the fence.

I'm sure there are some weird discrepancies with 9/11, and it seems like most people knew it was a massive target. But it really seems a moot point, now. The president can't really do stuff other than sort of make some 'progressive' or 'conservative' legislation and spout rhetoric, the bureaucrats are entrenched, and they're the ones who get things done. And truth is almost always more mundane and somehow stranger than fiction, anyhow. My apologies if this doesn't make sense, I'm tired.
