Okay, then go modify your post to be slightly less OP, or post a new application.

Directive watched the planet loom ahead as the ship's AI made course corrections as necessary. The atmosphere was turbulent, very much so. The ship was occasionally buffeted around as extremely strong gusts blew from the hot side. "Landing in T-5 minutes," said the AI. Directive nodded and began inputting commands. "What's our landing zone?" he asked.

"A large chasm, supposedly carved out of a shallow meteorite," replied one of the navigators. "Lowest surface winds and tolerable temperatures, as well as a breathable atmospheric area."

"Is this contained within the chasm?"

"The chasm is self-contained, yes. The lack of wind keeps the atmosphere in place, and the flora maintains the atmosphere."

"What's the atmospheric composition?" A pause.

"50% Nitrogen, 30% Sulfur, 15% Carbon Dioxide, 5% Oxygen. Various other gasses are present as well, but in too small quantities to be hazardous." The ship's AI stated this as the ship was buffeted again.

"No toxins? Radioactivity?"

"Shielding indicates radioactivity levels in excess of 2000 Rads, mainly from concentrated plutonium sources present in the majority of the planet's crust and lava flows." Directive perked up and looked at the Curator, who was also confused.

"Plutonium?" asked the curator. "That isn't a natural metal. Where'd the plutonium come from?"

"Insufficient data," replied the AI. "However, given the unstable nature of the planet, it is possible that the plutonium is a relic of an advanced civilization that destroyed themselves in a nuclear war."

"That doesn't explain massive tectonic shifting," said Directive. "Something else is at work here."

"There isn't enough data to make a valid conclusion." The AI clicked as the surface came into view.

"The Chasm is in sight, sir," said a navigator. "Landing in 30 seconds."

Once inside the cylinders, the craft hung low over the floor, where the cargo modules began to unscrew from their locking mechanism. The loud whir resounded in the titanium reinforced concrete structure. Finally, the module fell the few meters and landed with a soft thud. The occupants then opened the main door, revealing a tall, curved ramp-door imbedded in the hull of the module which used the hydraulic motors to soften its descent. From the 3 crewed ones filed out into the large storage area which lit up as they walked by. The Hellfish then maneuvered to the large lander clamps on the ceiling, similar to those placed near the hangar space on the Wayward Meddlers. The personnel went about their work, some taking the massive lift in the center of the large room to upper levels while others set about properly storing the cargo they arrived with.

== Wayward Meddlers CIC ==
“Next drop window in 49 minutes, sir.”
“49 minutes? Shouldn’t we wait until we’ve performed another complete orbit?” The Commander was interested in this development.
“We’re accelerating into a more eccentric orbit in order to speed up the time between launch windows, sir.”

== Deadman’s Requiem Bridge ==
The logistical team had been working with Innocuous to place navigational and communications buoys around Diecosd to aide the ships arriving the next standard day. They would have to rush more than anticipated to make up for lost time during transit, which they hoped would not interfere with their accuracy in their placement and setup.

OOC: I was wondering when you were gonna show up again.

Helios (filler) - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Helios (filler)   Helios (filler) - Page 2 Icon_minitimeWed Sep 18, 2013 1:42 am

The ship rumbled into the chasm, barely squeezing into it's mouth. The ship groaned as the edges scraped against the walls before descending properly.

And then the engines cut. The ship dropped like a stone, nearly 500 meters down before it smashed into the chasm floor. As it hit the ground, a high-pitched screeching filled the air, and the metal began twisting and snapping. Within seconds, the ship was severed in two, and a rock outcropping poked out from the mass of twisted steel that once formed the central section. The shield, now a flickering layered hexagon, was barely visible over the wreckage of what was once a highly advanced ship.

Directive pulled himself off the ground, pulling several chunks of metal off of him and casting them aside. Beside him, the Curator was pinned under a steel beam, collapsed from structural stress that had destroyed the superstructure. The main holographic display flickered and warped, circuits critically damaged by the force of impact. The lights were even unsteady, at a low power setting and occasionally shutting off before turning back on. Something else collapsed in the distance. Directive went to the curator and pulled him up, wincing at the daggers of pain that shot up his left leg.

As people were picking themselves up, Directive went to the malfunctioning holographic display and brought up data displays, or what he could get. Steel reinforcement failure. Bulkhead collapse. Severing. The ship was a complete loss. "God dammit," he yelled, smashing his fist on the panel. "Can anyone tell me why the engines cut out?"

"No idea sir," replied a technician, who was looking on his data pad. "All systems are malfunctioning- they're reporting massive kinetic stresses in all directions..." Directive marched over to him and struck at him, knocking him- and the data pad- to the ground.

"If all systems are reporting kinetic stresses, then there's kinetic stresses! This is the most advanced colony ship ever sent!" Directive marched back to the display and hit it again. The holographic screen corrected itself, and rendered itself properly. "Give me a complete situation report, now." The display began organizing a ship map, and then began displaying damage and all values. Directive looked at everything- the ship was a complete loss. There was no way they could fix it, and no way they'd leave the planet anytime soon. "Dammit!"

"Sir, we have ships incoming in a week," stammered the technician, who was trying to find the data pad. "If we can hold out..."

"There are no ships," replied a voice in the back of the room. Directive turned around.

"Who the hell are you? You're not on the crew roster and your data-displays aren't responding."

"I don't have any." The figure chuckled and stepped forward. "I didn't think we needed any help, so I took care of that problem for you." The figure stepped into one of the flickering lights and threw off his cloak, revealing a nearly blinding mass of plasma. Valyrian.

"You son of a BITCH!" Directive pulled out his personal pistol and fired, again and again, emptying 60 high-impact shredder rounds into the Valyrian, who was quickly ripped apart. Even when he was dead, Directive kept firing. Long after the Valyrian was nothing more than an eviscerated mass of quickly draining plasma, long after the pistol clicked again and again, signalling the end of the magazine.

Several drones, solar arrays and food crates have been reported missing, without any apparent reason why. All of the drones that are there are put to work setting up sensor arrays, the solar arrays that did make it to the surface, and mining for resources, as well as expanding the shelter complex to the under ground.

Colony Origin: Terra / Earth
Race: Human / Anyone who wishes to join
Colony ship name: Odyssey ODS-047
Colony intention: Scientific research, other colonies, spaceport
*Short Back story: Launched as part of a scientific endevour by the Commonwealth, the Odyssey was intended to set up shop on a suitable planet and turn out as much generalized research as possible.

Planetary info:
Apoapsis: 1,207 490 km
Periapsis: 125,450 km (Highly elliptical orbit)
Can your planet naturally support life: No. No natural atmosphere.
If no, Shelter Complex Location: 0 degrees lat., 47 degrees 32 minutes West. ODS-047 in equatorial orbit, 50*52 km altitude above sea level.
Note: Referred to as "Terra Prime", this colony required/requires significant fuel reserves to orbit and land on, mainly due to the wacky orbit.

Directive glanced at the screen again as he attempted to balance the power output with consumption. The chasm was completely habitable. No radiation, no lava, breathable atmosphere. But he didn't trust it. The shields were kept on at all times.

The Valyrian's body was used in the fusion reactor. Nobody questioned Directive's outburst- though it was unusual for a Librarian, they weren't unheard of. Now he needed to send out a signal. "What's the status on transmitter 3?" he asked.

"Transmitter 3 is online and awaiting message," replied the newly-repaired AI. "I must warn, however, that we cannot run the shields and the transmitter at the same time." Directive sighed.

"Then deactivate the shields. Send the message. Maybe someone will respond."

"Already done."

//DISTRESS SIGNAL//

>Librarian ship Machina downed on Helios - Inferno<

>Ship sabotaged by Valyrian agents<

>Ship completely destroyed and unusable<

>Trapped in Chasm 337, coordinates 32.566.12<

>All friendly empires respond<

//REPEAT//

The transmitter sends the message across the system through subspace. Hopefully, someone would respond and help.

Of course, it's unlikely.

A reply to the distress signal was quickly dispatched.

"This is the colony from the Solari empire. we have received your distress signal, we are preparing to send SCS-012986 to your location."

The minimum crew of 15 quickly grabbed a few basic supplies and prepared the ship for takeoff. The doors connecting the landing pad to the rest of the complex were being closed as the oxygen was being pumped out. The ship quickly ascended between the gap in the blast doors with only a few centimeters to spare.

"Sir, we're picking up a distress beacon from a Librarian ship in the system. What should we do?"
"Nothing, that's what we do. We can't spare any of our resources, we're already a week behind schedule!"
"Aye, sir."

A colony shuttle from Odyssey picked up the signal.

"Captain, distress call from within the system. On the orbit map now."
"Alter burn time and attitude. Give me an intercept vector."

The shuttle spun and fired its engines, moving to assist the damaged ship.

Upon reaching a trajectory that will put the ship out of the planet's influence, the on board computer ran through the various calculations and burned for an intercept of the planet. The computer ran through more calculations to decrease the time to get to the destination.

Directive watched the display screen as the message displayed. Solari empire. They should be able to help them repair their vessel enough to sustain themselves... hopefully. He reconfigured the transmitter and stepped back when the display shorted out. It rebooted, and Directive quickly checked all systems again. Transmitter 3 was destroyed. They had no subspace communications. But they had radios, so they could communicate when they got here.

Meanwhile, an engineer was attempting to access the reactor. He pulled up a panel and stared into a pitch black hole. He shone a light down it. Inky-black obsidian walls winked back on him, and it was perfectly smooth. Unnaturally smooth. He covered the hole again and rushed off to the bridge.

Upon arriving at the planet, the ship began calculating the ship path. The ship descended at a rather high rate of speed before beginning the braking burn just before chasm's mouth. The ship dropped below the chasm's mouth and landed as close to the ship as the computers calculated it could.
