vent, mumble, or teamspeak

i have all three of these communication devices but i think for a server to be truly great it needs a serverwide communication software. now it seems a bit forward that im already making suggestions and i just joined today but it seems that this is lacking and i want to know what u guys think. (p.s. if there is already a serverwide communications software i didnt do any looking around i just post this based on the few things i saw on the home page)

So.... you're suggesting that for a Mod, we build in a server-wide chat system with voice?

Yeah, some how, just some how, I don't think that's going to fly. It's a nice concept and I agree the MC chat system is definitely lacking, but there's a lot more to a chat system's programming then just plugging in some code and there you have it. Stick to vent for now until someone sponsors us and we can quit our day jobs to work on this full time, then you'll get a server-wide chat system.

Yeah, that would be a seperate mod. I am suprised nobody has made it yet, though.

Mumble has a script built into it to where when you run an application with mumble it will act as if it were scripted with the program, why dont we just get a mumble server? it works really well and i've first hand tryed it with other servers and it works great!

p.s. i dont want to sound like im begging but can i be white listed

white listed for what? We don't have a test server running yet.

Anyway, I'll look into mumble once I have some other key pieces done, namely the stuff for moving between servers.

I must be missing something. What does mumble have to do with us? If someone wanted to use it, we wouldn't be the ones hosting it anyway.

Don't honestly know, I'm going to look it up, according to this feel it can be scripted to work with servers. What exactly that means, I don't know. I'll take a look at it and see if it's worth any further investment of time.

I think that's for implementing built-in VOIP which seem unnecessary in a game like this. If people need voice chat they can set it up themselves. The people who would make use of it would probably prefer to use their own.

Ah, well then. Never mind. Wasn't sure what he meant but I believe you're right about who would actually use it.
