Photon Torpedos (take 2)

Again, I want Photon Torpedos.
Meaning the antimatter projectiles from Star Trek.

Just a note why I think PTs can be added despite the fact that Maceroth said they are OP:
MACs are more powerful than a photon torpedo, and MACs are about to be added, as noone ever complained about them being OP.

Photons aren't antimatter.

It takes less than 50 seconds to look up what a photon is. That said, what would a photon torpedo do and be like?

MACs are super weapons only found on larger ships. PTs could be on ANY ship with a torpedo tube. Explain how that isn't OP

Well, if you watch star trek they don't tend to do a lot. All that happens is the ship firing them shakes and tuvok goes no effect captain. The things designed to be weapons in star trek tend to do less than the random ideas with the deflector bellana comes up with.

That's why Star Trek would lose any inter-franchise war. No matter what the stated power of their weapons or shields or whatever is, you have to remember that the shields will fail in every battle, and the phaser banks will always glance off the enemy ships. So, photon torpedoes could be exactly as they are in Star Trek, meaning they're very powerful weapons with a 1 in 500 chance of working.

Ugh. That's a bloody plot device, the shows are meant to follow the treks of individual starships far away from home with no support. You'll notice that it is not called Trek Wars. In this particular case, a a Photon torpedo was used by the NX-01 to take out a Bird of Prey in one hit.

Now that always isn't the case in the shows, so when you look at the games where that emphasis on their situation isn't needed, a Photon Torpedo does a fair bit of damage, more or less a third of the power of a UNSC frigate's MAC.

It makes you look stupid otherwise.


I guess the name "photon torpedo" refers to the energy of the explosion being released in formk of photons.

Try making a photon torpedo in a universe without replicators.
It takes ages and uses tons of extreme ammounts of energy.
Building a ship capable of carrying a MAC from materials mined from asteroids propably takes less time.
