 Fenway's Ship Log

After a long time away from ship building and a new texture pack I am making that will help with this, I have returned to ship building.

With the first ship, the M.S. Hriad!

The Hriad is a Medium Sized, Battlecruiser class cruiser designed for long missions and high action situations. This is a combat vessel, but is by no means one to be on the front lines. It features at least 50 small laser turrets on it's sides, 2 aimable laser cannons, one laser array, and four breach loading missile pods. It also boasts a hidden MAC. It's main engines have 300 M/S acceleration. It's power plant is capable of producing 8000 Tera-Joules of energy max, and it's Graiv field generator is two pronged, it acts as both a Shield Generator and a Graiv Stealth Field Generator! It also has two airlocks on either side.

A Graiv field, for those who wish to know, is a field created by cancelling out the gravitational energy of the higgs field directly around the ship by creating an electrical field around the ship. The current alternates at certain frequencies, and those frequencies correspond to the EM wave frequencies that are allowed through the field, in and out. All other frequencies are directed around the ship, as if they went through it. The frequencies are usually so minute that only a detection system attuned to the exact frequencies of those allowed by the field will be able to detect it, and only if that frequency is present in the system.

I wish to get customer feedback about my products before we sell them, so....

Any thoughts?

Don't really like it, the top fin is too obtrusive...you could make corresponding fins on the laterals or just remove it altogether...also, why dispensers? I thought this was a custom texture pack you were making...also, not a fan of the flat front...the fin only exacerbates that...

I am making a custom texture pack. However, I needed a reference guide to use, so I will be using this (and other) ships for that.

I never really liked the flat front either, but it was a pain to try and remove without killing the design. And the fin is mainly for decoration, to show that it belongs to my empire, but it also helps with balance in an atmosphere, especially gas giants. The dispensers, well, I honestly couldn't come up with anything better at the time, so I just stuck with it, but later designs WILL fix the glaring flaw.

Hey, I put dispensers on my M-series ships (which this follows the design of). The design is quite abrupt, but this is countered with having a depth filled hull (no big blocks, but lots of variation) and reasonable detailing. The interior is mostly good, but I would lower the ceiling/ walls in some rooms so it isn't apparent that they are up against the hull.

I didn't think that was super-apparent, but I'll take your advice. All of yours.

I'm planning on a new ship, and I already have the basic shape down. It will be an elongated arrow, with weapon fins on either side. Like this:

I like it too, and I am glad people realize, that when making small ships, tekkit can reduce a lot of the bulk. I think it needs more of a wings presence though...

Not bad. A little oddly shaped (but I know that is so that it can fit in all that equipment). Could use more netherbrick though, as it seems you use it as your secondary colour.

I cut down on wings, partly because they are only useful in a planet's atmosphere, but mainly because the shield wouldn't fit it.

I agree. Moar nethrbrix!

Engine Area. You can't see the actual engine back because of the angle. I'm still working on it, though.

I was referring to the op but yeah i'm back, my computer screen cracked and i had to get it fixed, yes it took that long anyway i love the ships
