So, could different types of shells, or laser beams be added. Like, if fighters were coming, a shell that fires and explodes and spreads flak around, to take out smaller ships. But for larger ships normal shells, for maximum damage, maybe even armor piercing. What are your thoughts on that everyone?

I want as many different types of ammo as possible, especially for larger cannon and missile launchers. Solid slugs, grapeshot, incendiary, high explosive, phosphorus, penetrating, tracers, biological, nuclear, homing, antifighter, anticruiser, antistructure, weird ones based off Droch-class boarding ships that deploy commandos into the enemy ship, you name it.

Evil robot shells that deploy robots? Neurotoxin shells?

Heck yeah.

Grey goo shells.

Graviton shells.

Dr. Device shells.

I like this.

I would like to see a "shell" that caused rapid oxidization upon impact, it rust the metal when it hits it, so everything metal weakens and breaks. Also some form of imbedding then mutlti-detonation shell would be cool.

A rust bomb... cool. I dunno if it'd work in space, though. The oxygen is an important part of oxidation. Maybe something similar would be a shell full of acid...

about that whole flak/shrapnel shell being used to take out small ship I don't really find that practical
if you ignore that fact that there are tons of small space rock that act just like shrapnel I would think the hull of the ship could easily shake that off, there the problem of lets say you fire this shrapnel missile or shell thing at a ship or other fighter and it hits, good job, except that shrapnel will go in all direction which mean your flying into a wall of shrapnel, which is bad, and if it doesn't fuck you up its certainly going to fuck up another guy, friendly or hostile, considering there's no atmosphere or gravity slow the fragments down, and if a bunch of these missile or shell are being throw around then there going to be a lot of shrapnel every where, and that's bad.

My shell of choice? The black hole shell (Think red matter from Star Trek)

In essence, it turns into a black hole on impact, sucking everything near it into it. However, it is very short lived, lasting for about 5 seconds. But the gravitational field still rips ships apart in the general area. When it evaporates, it emits very powerful EM radiation, blinding anyone who looks at the evaporating hole directly and scrambling electronics and communications.

This is caused because it releases more light that the sun. MUCH more.

Instead of that (referring to the shrapnel bomb) we could just explode-on-contact shells that fire out in a shotgun like style. it would be good as well for there to be a delayed shot that fired the same thing possibly even with targeting capabilities. Other ideas: laser net, cyrobomb, tar (to impair visbllity/ clog engines), grappling hooks (subtypes: steals energy, tight grip, injects poisonous gases, causes a breach in the hull)

I want a Nano Robot shell like in the movie : The day the Earth stood still (the newer one not the old movie)
additionally I want Ion Rays,Proton Bombs(and Torpedos), Heat Rays,Plasma weps

But we should discuss about rockets and if they should be used because They are nearly harmless in space.
Because the power of explosion expands in every direction and only a part hits the ship.

In order of questions,

Drones, probably added, why not, why would you want those, plasma is being added, I think. Missiles are the simplest medum for space warfare, besides cannons, and even if a part of the ship is damaged by the missile, a part of it will also be depressureized, damaging or killing everyone in it.

XDD If you dont know what I am talking about STFU
The Nano Shell should contain NanoRobots which eat metall and reproduce to eat even more metall and more and more until the ship was eaten up
And the missile cant damage a single part of the ship if it dont gets into it because explosives (sry for my bad english) switch from their solid state into gas and their expansion contains almost all power of this reaction,Its like you were farting at the ship only the pieces of the shell have an effect.
so an Rocket exploding at the ships surface would have none effect and to build an rocket which breaks through is almost impossible because the ship must be armoured against mini asteroids and if you accord from the energy of these asteroids its impossible to accelerate the rocket sufficient to break the hull

That makes no sense at all. The way a missile works in atmosphere is it causes a pressure wave that does concussion damage to static defenses and lifeforms. The way missiles work in space is there is a delayed blast that activates after the amur peircing tip of the missile peirces the hull. While asteroids would hit the hull, they are only going a few hundred KMH, and are not being deliberately fired at the ship, while a missile is going much faster, and IS deliberately aimed at the ship.

ok I see your point You won this discussion but there are other things which block missiles easily
and to be honest If you put some auto laser turrets on your ship to shoot at missiles its senseless to fire missiles on you

I am now starting to question, could there be an orange fireball from a missile exploding in space? There is no oxygen, a key ingredient for fire.

i must correct you, good sir, some asteroids ARE aimed at a ship, and are, in fact, hidden missiles. or mines. or something.

Indeed. In Old Man's War, the CDF liked to sit in orbit and drop meteorites onto enemy cities/bases/etc.

Yes there would still be an explosion although it would most likely not be orange but it would still burn whatever combustiles/explosives were within or near the missle the fiery flame part doesnt do the damage in these missles though it's the blast itself.

Fire requires oxygen, an ignition source, and fuel. Without one of those, there can be no fire.

The fire could come from the ship's atmosphere.
