Just curious and I'll pop a screen shot when I get off work, but has anyone else every been turned into a Ninja Turtle before?

Basically I was testing out my code, running through a smelting process and while waiting for a bunch of stuff to smelt I was running around in an abandoned mine shaft. So I jump up on a ledge and go to punch a cobweb and "blink" my screen (game screen that is) flickers for a second and the game crashes, I assume something failed in the smelting process but when I checked the error it was a class I hadn't seen before, didn't think much of it so I restarted the game and load up the save, its not corrupted, which is odd to me, almost every time in the past the game crashed hard like that it corrupted my save. Anyway, once it loads I immediately notice my hand looks all weird, so I F5 it and holy WTF I look like a ninja turtle. Needless to say I snapped a screen shot and carried on with my testing, went after after 1 game restart.

This some kind of "easter" egg by Mojong? Or am I just losing my mind.

I would say you were crazy if it hadn't happened to me. Experimenting with the CCTV mod and I was this hooded character wearing all black and had glowy green eyes. Freaked me the hell out.

Looking back, it was almost certainly something to do with the sign-in circumvention when you are running the debug jar. For whatever reason you are occasionally logged on as another player.
Just another one of the great mysteries of the world, I suppose.

Oh believe me; I've had much larger "wth?" moments. An example:
I am playing on my computer, with 1.8.1 installed. COMPLETLY VINILLA MINECRAFT, no mods at all. I craft a compass, for the first time in ages (since I started using Too Many Items). Everything seems fine, until I try and get into a boat with it. On right-clicking, a message pops up, saying "there are no blocks to pass through".
I go "hmm, I wonder what might happen if I go up to a tree and click this...” When I do, I teleport right through the tree, appearing a few blocks on the other side. In all, I teleported about ten blocks from one side of the tree to the other.

Needless to say, I used my compass A LOT for exploring caves. You can go right through the walls, as long as they are <20 blocks thick.
I really wouldn’t of been that surprised, except the Wiki says nothing about it...

This is just a minor example compared to “The World 5 Incident”. Remind me to tell you some time.

I had Single Player Commands installed. When Minecraft updated, the mod was overwritten, but World Edit remained (separate package).

So, you ever going to tell us about this incident? Figured might as well ask since we're on a necro post rampage.

Yes, I suppose I might as well. I have to say, Fr0stbyte quite mad because I went and revived 10 old topics...

So the story goes:

My save file was corrupted. I don't even remember why, but
either way, it was. So, I reinstated my back-up, as any person would have done.
But that's when the interesting things started happening. The first thing I
noticed was that I was in the middle of a snow biome.

After the initial
panic (my base was in a forest), I realised that I was exploring that snow area
when I took the back-up, so no problems there. Except that right near where I
appeared, there was a strip of grass 8 blocks wide (I think, but I remember the
exact width but it wasn't a whole chunk), which continued to the horizon at
both ends. I followed it one way, it just stopped, no warning, just ended.
Following it the other way, I found that a mountain was in the way. I climbed
up it, but accidentally fell off the other side and died. When I respawned, I noticed
one interesting fact: the bridge that I normally spawn on was gone. Again I
panicked, but I continued towards my base. It was gone, too. My entire base had
disappeared.

Well, not entirely. The burning forest still remained, the
giant markers I made in some part of the ocean remained, and a small part of my
rollercoaster had gone. But my main base, with its 120 block high tower, dock
built on a perfect cubic depress that had formed near the sea (only later did I
realise that the terrain normally doesn't generate perfect cubic impressions in
the ground, than fill them up with water and ice), and giant castle overlaying
a mountain had gone.

The strange thing was, the terrain was different. If the
world had of re-generated over the top of itself, then I would have expected
the terrain to be the same, but it wasn't, it was different. Similar though:
the ocean was in the same place, but the continent on the other side had been
replaced with a series of islands. The cave where my base used to be was still
there, but had a completely different shape. The land had become steeper, and
the forest more dense, but I could still recognise features from when I first
walked this land.
The weirdest thing was the boundary between the "old" and
"new" areas (old being the chunks on which my structures survived,
and new being the new, altered terrain). Not only had hills, ponds (can't call
them lakes, too small), trees and my rollercoaster been swan in half, but when
I placed a torch near one side of the barrier, the light didn't carry over to
the other, even when I destroyed a block, forcing the chunk to update. One of the
weirdest moments of my life...

But wait! This is only one of three. Ask, and I shall tell you the others. This was the most influential and largest, but No. 2 was probably weirder.

You conveniently fail to mention that you stated intentions to drag up every thread on the board. And this being the guy who once octuple-posted on the FutureCraft thread to get us up to the next page, I thought you would do it. As it was, it was kind of interesting, seeing what we posted back in October and November. It seems like so long ago.

Speaking of long ago, I too have a story of a land lost to a vengeful god.
This is from waaay back in the day. Late June of 2010. I had been playing for about 3 months at that point. Infdev was about a month old, and Notch was still fiddling with the way worlds were stored. I had designed an at the time state-of-the-art cobblestone generator with active blocks and a water system to collect the bits (I still maintain it's nicer than most I see nowadays). Additionally, I made a signal tower, which used the airlock principle (torches break and create a chain reaction with falling sand. Damn useful back when water expanded infinitely from the sea.) to remotely release falling lava at the top of the tower. It was quite pretty: the tower would go from pale white to bright orange once triggered and you could see it clearly from the edge of the draw distance. Perfect for the multiplayer which didn't exist yet.

I said Notch was messing with the save format. In this case, he tried to convert chunks to 32x32 iirc, which failed spectaculary, so he reverted it. I didn't really care much about it, until I went to look for my base again, only I couldn't find it anywhere. I couldn't have strayed too far from it, and I keep seeing the familiar landmarks, but no base. Then after walking over the same beach I walked over probably a dozen times, I remember some of the land I cut out to make the cobblestone generator. I realized then that my world was lost and the terrain generator reproduced the errant chunks flawlessly, which is to say, without my interference.

I was Charlton Heston standing before the ruins of the statue of liberty. It was my world all along. Notch finally went and blew it up. Damn you Notch! Goddamn you all to hell!

Okay, incident No.2

I was out exploring one day, like normal. I took a boat from my underground
dock (which was later destroyed, along with the rest of my base, as I said in
my previous story). I was crossing over the ocean (on a boat) to see what new
and exciting lands awaited there. Little did I know, that the lands would be
more exciting than any before, but certainly not new. When I reached the far
shore, I got off my boat. The terrain was steep, after a small beach, there was
a long ridge going along the shore-line, and on the other side was a protected
cove, with another ridge along the other side. Now, when I climbed over the
ridge, I started to recognize the terrain. But not from that world, from
another.

You see, one time when I was playing, I fell into lava and died, losing all of
my expensive items I had taken with me. Well actually, I almost died. As soon
as I hit the lava, I paused the game and quickly closed Minecraft, before it
could finish saving, thinking that when I reopened it that I would just start
off from the last time I saved it. Was I wrong, the world was deleted (this was
back in the day when the saves still had numbers, the world was No.5).

Now, the world I was playing on earlier in my story (with crossing the
ocean and such) was also world 5, but a new one I'd created after that other
one was deleted.

The purpose of that extra paragraph was to make sense of the following: when I
started recognizing the terrain, the terrain I was recognizing was from the old
world 5. Obviously, I was very, very amazed. However, as I continued to go
through the protected cove, the game started to lag. Massively. I'm talking a frame
rate of about 1fp2s. I saw my old base, but the lag became so intense that I
had to drown myself (a task that took 5minutes) and respawn. I died right under
a bridge I thought I’d never see again.
