Should we use the proposed system for fleets and/or planets?

OOC: I was trying to make a reference of which of my ship classes would fit which role, but it turned out that my fleet organization was too different from the standard to fit my ships into these roles. Especiallly considering that the MQR doesn't use dedicated carriers, but instead has small fighter hangars on most ships size frigate and above.

Requesting permission to post my own fleet organization system. (will do in similar manner to standard)

I'd like to say yes, deviate as much from the norm as you need to, but then that leads right back to where we started with everyone having their own systems that can't be compared in a meaningful manner without making massive generalizations. Just make sure the names are the same or very similar, if at all possible, because that's how they'll be weighted when combat breaks out.

Jack, denied you know why accepted.

Targ, accepted.

Vinyl, reduce the wealth in that last post to +1. If you're basing this around WH40K lore those things cost quite a bit to set up. Otherwise good job, that's the kind of thing I'm hoping to see with this.

The Confederation scout that is watching the Codice Fleet has returned to Confederation space. A new healthcare bill is being looked at by the Confederate Senate. Border fleets are being rotated for retrofitting.
End Report:

OOC: Tiel, if you need clarification for battle and assault fleets, just ask.

Revision: any custom scheme for fleets must have a specification for what elements/squadrons are in them in the end report. That's something you're going to have to keep track of if you want to do that.

@ Lightspeed, basically you're doing the same thing as before, except saying what actually happens because of it in the end report. A fleet moving to another system, for instance, or a planet's defenses being upgraded.

Just go for it and I'll let you know if something's off.

Okay, Fleet system:

Battlegroups: (similar to Elements)

  • Corvette Battlegroup: A group of corvettes surrounding a cruiser
  • Frigate Battlegroup: A small number of (sometimes specialized) frigates, supported by gunships
  • Escort Battlegroup: some escorts and pinnaces
  • Destroyer Battlegroup: a group of destroyers

Flotillas: (similar to Squadrons)

  • Battlecruiser Flotilla: A group of Corvette Battlegroups surrounding a battlecruiser
  • Mixed Flotilla: A group of Frigate Battlegroups surrounding a heavy cruiser
  • Smart Flotilla: escort and destroyer battlegroups

Fleets:

  • Response Fleet: smart flotillas with some Corvette Battlegroups
  • Defense Fleet: battlecruiser flotillas and some mixed flottillas supported by dreadnaughts
  • Attack Fleet: mixed flotillas and some smart flotillas arrayes around one dreadnaught and some assault ships

Superweapons operate alone. (if ever applicable)
Superships are put on top of a fleet as flagships of said fleet.
Major military stations are independent of fleets.

For most purposes, each fleet operates as its own task force, which is why my fleets are bigger than Tiel's. Therefore there will not be task forces in the end reports.
This means that while fleets usually operate alone except if an attack is expected, the MQR is attacking a heavily fortified system or similar situations.
On the other hand, it is possible for battlegroups or flotillas to leave their fleet and operate independently, however, in reports it will be assumed they are with the fleet unless mentioned othwerwise.

OOC: suggesting a profile sheet and end reports for alliances in order to keep track of e.g. joint-forces fleets

End Report:

Wait was I accepted?

And the low SPI is down to the problem with Maverick units that I've been having in pretty much every RP. And I could legitimately have Maverick hunters.

Here's my system:

Wing: Equivalent to an element.
- Frigate Wing- Consists of 4 frigates.
- Escort Wing- 3 frigates and a Leonidas class escort carrier.
- Destroyer Wing- Consists of 2 destroyers.

Battlegroup: Equivalent to a squadron
- Heavy Battlegroup- A Nike-Class battlecruiser with 2 destroyers, 4 frigates, and 1 cruiser arrayed around it.
- Carrier Battlegroup- A Reprisal-Class fleet carrier with 4 destroyers, 4 frigates, and 2 cruisers arrayed around it.
- Mixed Battlegroup- Usually consists of a Nike battlecruiser and a Reprisal carrier with an escort wing, 2 destroyer wings, and a frigate wing.

Fleets:
- Battle Fleet- Escort wings, mixed battlegroups, and heavy battlegroups arrayed around 1 or 2 dreadnoughts (the only fleet with 2 dreadnoughts is the 7th Fleet).

- Assault Fleet- Multiple carrier battlegroups and heavy battlegroups arrayed around a dreadnought with a few escort wings.

- Carrier Fleet- 6 Carrier battlegroups with battlecruiser escorts and a dreadnought.

- Line Fleet- Multiple heavy battlegroups and a few escort wings arrayed around 1 Reprisal carrier.

EDIT: My fleets are the same as Ivan's. They are about the size of conventional task forces. They are large. Therefore, I don't have task forces unless I need some serious overkill.
