I stand by my pledge of "I'm screwed if it happens anyways, may as well prep for droughts, fires, earthquakes, and tsunamis, which I can actually survive by preparing. If it's a nuclear weapon or a zombie invasion, grab that gear and do what you can."

That said, I have normal survival gear for non-nuclearzombiepandemic situations.

He propably meant that advice-wise.
Also, if FC was Clone Wars, you'd be Ventress and Dooku wouldn't die in Episode 3, but that's beside the point.
and if Aliens attack, they propably won't nuke the planet, they want it for something after all.

Nuking the surface wouldn't destroy minerals underneath.

The requirement for radiation protection would still make mining much less erffective.
Also they couldn't use the local population as slave workers.

They could just be after the hugemassive amount of metals in your core, and just split the mantle open to suck it out. Quicker and more efficient than asteroid mining.

I'm not too sure about that... The amount of energy required to crack a planet in half, compared to the amount of energy required to crak an asteroid in half....
And why would they use an inhabited planet when life's so rare (and they would value life if they got to space exploration before destroting themselves like humans might) when there are thousands of much more ore-rich, larger planets just floating around?

There's an asteroid that is basically a planetary core out in the asteroid belt, there really isn't any reason to invade another planet other than capturing infrastructure or something similar.

Except if they just want living space because they f***ed up their own planet and therefore need a habitable planet, under which circumstances they'd still want to maintain the environment, making mass bombardemant from orbit somewhat contraproductive (except maybe for some really big cities).

There is no way we can make our own planet so shitty that the runners up start looking appealing.  You'd have to blow off the atmosphere, boil away the oceans, kill the magnetic field, and make all the surface glow in the dark from radiation just to put it on an even playing field with Mars, much less those iceball moons.  And even after that, all our stuff is here, vs starting from scratch with whatever we could push out into space.

I swore we were working on all of those.

It would make for a good Captain Planet episode.

Fun fact, my mom saw Ted Turner all the time back in the late 70s-80s, and knew his daughter(she had a thing for hispanics).

That's assuming ETs are anything like Earth life, which I really doubt. Hell, I doubt they'd even be conditioned to the same gravity levels as us.

Doesn't matter when they come to bombard us, merely out of survival instinct maybe, thinking that if left alone humans might grow stronger and become a threat, better annihilate them before they become a problem.

If aliens were advanced enough to travel the massive distance between habitable planets then terraforming a planet like Mars into something habitable should be like building a bridge to us.

It seems like it would be easier to build a torchship and just take advantage of time dilation than it would be to terraform a planet. Maybe they would be able to, but I doubt it would be easy in any way.
