Then again, I *did* buy one of... these...

Hmm, it won't be released for about 2 years (sounds like its on our scheduled). But I could get a package that includes alpha and beta, then I'll get access to it around December. (But it won't be very much content)

No with a triple serving of No on top.

It's a freaking subscription MMO with microtransactions now, isn't it? No.

Get X Rebirth instead.

X Rebirth does look like a great game. But yes Star Citizen probably will require a subscription, but I'm willing to pay $10-20 a month for an MMO. Plus if I do get the game I'll get access to alpha so I won't have to wait that long. Now I don't know what you have against MMO's but take a chill pill and focus on the bright side of things in life.

I don't have anything against MMOs. I have everything against cash grabs. SC was supposed to be a singleplayer experience, then the lead (who had a ton of controversy going on regarding his claimed accolades, I might add) discovered that 'hey, I can squeeze more money out of my audience by making it an MMO!' Later still the concept of freemium was introduced to him, but our intrepid project lead is far too savvy to fall for that, so instead we end up with a premium currency in a game that already requires a subscription. Yippe kayee.

There are many fine pleasures in life. Oatmeal, Cracked.com....Star Citizen will is not looking to be one of them. If you insist on getting it just the same, don't pre-order. Wait for the full product to come out so a true assessment can be made of whether the gameplay is worth dealing with pay2play nooblets while paying 10-20 dollars out of the pocket every month.

Well you clearly mix your relation with the X series here but I agree it is to early to pre-order. Also where the hell did you hear about the payment system in star citizen ?

The game isnt even going to come out until 2015. The creator makes really big promises about the most detailed and amazing space MMO ever made but I wouldn't buy the game until we have beta footage at least. I'll buy it when I know he has delivered on his promises. On that note: a friend of mine has already spent 250 dollars on this game making sure he has ships early on. Foolish.

Gentlemen, you should clearly save your money for Homestuck: The Adventure Game.
Or Half Life 3. Or one of the very many space MMOs out there, you all seem to like those.

Being able to buy ingame stuff before the game comes out is propably the most risky founding campaign since Kickstarter.
The only upside is that you can be sure they have enough money to make the game.
On the other side, it is unknown what the standards will be in 2015, it might end up being horribly outdated by then...

All games that you see right now are made by the standards of 3-4 years ago, the games that begin development today are the games that will be the standards of 2016-2017, so yea even Crysis 3 is outdated by the time it is out Razz (Though that is probably the dev cycle of triple A titles so smaller games prob take less)

Don't waste money on a video card that can handle the Cry 3 engine, yet. They will be much less expensive by the time this game is out, and like I said before: It might not deliver. This guy made big promises and he's working alone. Plus, what I've seen of the ship hangars, our kickstarter money is currently being put to good use: Obstacle courses and fish tanks.
