PostSubject: Civcraft    Sun Sep 08, 2013 3:52 pm

So I recently found out about this cool gamemode for Minecraft called Civcraft. It is kinda like Towny, but has some significant strategic elements borrowed from its namesake (the civilization series) such as buyable structures that give you various bonuses, defensive buildings, etc. It looks very cool, if you'd take a moment and visit their website. Now, it takes a fair amount of people to make a civ, or even a town, so consider this something of a recruitment drive to establish a foothold in this gametype.

We should start an independent town, like a city-state. Because why not.

You asked for four locks yesterday. Some of them were necroposts in dead threads; none of them had any reason to be locked. A request for a lock is just that: a request. I have no obligation to give you what you want, especially when you're doing it for stupid reasons. You created a bloody thread in the Appeals area to get me to not lock stuff. I don't think anyone but yourself fully understands whatever point you're trying to make, but if you have some sort of problem with me or anyone else just bloody say so and cut out this passive-aggressive crap.

You asked for four locks yesterday.
The majority of the locks you make are on request of the OP, which always pass even if there's no real good reason for them. That notwithstanding, I'd like those threads locked as discussion is dead in them, and this one has gone wildly offtopic.

And you are incorrect. I made that post concerning your initiative to lock threads without either OP involvement and just out of some subjective reasoning on your part. So, what's it going to be. Can OPs request locks on topics for good reasons, or not? Or are you just doing this out of some problem with me?

You made more lock requests yesterday than everyone else on this forum combined since we moved back here. "Always" is a useless term when what you really mean is 'all three times'.

Comrade Tiel wrote:

"Discussion is dead" applies to the vast majority of threads on every forum on the Internet. Going and locking all of them would be an absurd waste of time. If they're truly dead, they don't need to be locked. This thread is certainly off-topic, but is much less so that other threads that have not been locked. In all cases, locking the threads goes against precedent.

I instead view this as a petition for Jedi to stay the hell away from the lock button unless it's absolutely necessary.
Your own words, Tiel. But OK, I'll answer you anyway. First, I don't think you have good reasons for requesting these locks. Like hyperlite, you are posting for the sake of making trouble. Note that I agreed to the first lock request that I saw, and locked the thread. I unlocked it after I saw that you were asking for a whole batch of them, because no-one has any valid reasons for asking for a bunch of locks all at once. Second, no, not necessarily. Even if the OP had some perfectly valid reason for wanting a thread locked, if the thread was not in violation of the rules and other people were enjoying it I would not comply with their request. Third, yes, Tiel, I seem to have a problem with you. You attacked me on a personal level about locking threads and said I was being a bad Moderator. I thought that was over and I don't hold it against you, because as a Member you are well within your rights to criticize a Moderator you don't think is doing a good job, but now a week later you are again saying that I am a bad moderator because you don't like my stance on locking threads. Trying to say that those two events are unrelated is simply stupid. You are starting things and going after me personally. It wasn't a problem when fr0st wouldn't lock the thread, but when I won't lock it I'm being a bad Moderator. I don't understand any particular reason for that other than resentment over my objections to you freaking out and abusing your administrator powers, but regardless of the cause the answer to the question "Does Jedi have a problem with Tiel and vice versa" pretty much has to be yes. I do not think I would have locked the threads have Vinyl or ACH asked me to, but who knows? Ultimately it's a judgement call, and if your apparent hatred of me has clouded my judgement on this matter then so be it.

If it were anything worth reading I would have.

But yes, Jedi, you are an objectively bad moderator, and no amount of ad hominems is going to change that. We can continue on this line of discussion and make your lack of competence in terms of enforcing the rules all that more apparent, or you can make like a Shiva and simply lock the thread, retreating from any defense of your position. It makes little difference to me, truth be told.

Jedi isn't a bad moderator, Tiel. I've had very few complaints against him, and those that I have are fairly petty. Some people don't like that he has a pole up his ass that has a pole up its ass, but this just means the rules will be carried out, even if he might be conflicted. He's the moderator we need, not the one we want. I'd like a mod that lets us do anything, but we need a mod to keep the bad stuff in check and enforce the rules. Since there's no rule about locking threads, I feel Jedi went with his best judgement. I agree with Jedi, seeing as I have no idea as to why you wanted all those threads locked.

I defended my position, and you admitted to not even reading it, and in fact told me there was nothing there worth reading, and then said I was using ad hominems. There seems to be some sort of fundamental disconnect between you and what is being written here. The comment about my lack of competence in terms of enforcing the rules puts the lie to the pretense that this whole thing is about you wanting your thread locked. If it was, there would be no rules involved because the rules have not been violated. I'm obviously not going to lock the thread. This entire thing, and the thread in the Appeals, has everything to do with you disliking me on a personal level and trying to make trouble because of it. I have no doubt that you genuinely believe me to be a bad Moderator, but your opinion isn't worth peanuts on any matter related to the moderation of the forum given that you're the guy who lost his shit and killed the last one. Your use of the term 'objectively' is ridiculous in this context. If this was coming from anyone who was actually objective I would of course address their concerns, but...

K silence ppl Im too lazy to read all that crap you write there. Judging by the length of it Tiel might just get what he wants, and actually on your spot LJS I would do as he asks just for the sake of it, however I did noticed one violation you made there tiel - you necroposted and spammed, now tell me is it really worth risking a ban for a mere lock in a dead thread ? I believe your answer is not, if so LJS doesn't lock your topics and you don't necropost, how's bout that ?

I swear, maybe I should just lock all the threads to stop Tiel and LJS bickering.
