If they're all solids, why do you have liquid engines.

Spoiler:
You can still give your science craft self-defense weaponry.

The JE2SP Evolution's first test flight went well. It made it to Eve with over 25% of its fuel remaining.
I think that, if I had not burned fuel to get it into orbit, it could have returned to Kerbin without any need for refuelling. That way I could fly it to Eve, fly by and pick up data for R&D and return to Kerbin in a single flight. This is my most successful SSTO to date and I'm quite happy with the results.

After several months in orbit around Eve ( So, roughly half of a Sins of a Solar Empire game ), Ludbal and Sidhat Kerman have finally received their fuel delivery and can begin the return trip to Kerbin. I won't be landing them, though, because with the upcoming R&D update, I think I may no longer have access to SSTO parts until I've researched them so I'll try to keep at least three in orbit.

@pat looks like an Aries 4A.
I'll maybe put up some of my pictures. BTW, is anyone else annoyed that "Sandbox" mode is looking more and more like "career" mode? What if I damn well want to crash rockets into stuff for the hell of it?
*wave off* you career junkie go play elsewhere, I want my good ol' fahsion blow-everything-up Sandbox back! *cries in a corner*
But in all seriousness. Really, d00ds? SANDBOX needs research?

Calm down, they´ll propably give your sandbox mode its freedom back once they got enough career-stuff to seperate them.

The Aeries 4A is a one-seater and has half the fuel capacity as mine.

I just have a random thought about Gilly. I know it is possible to get an Eve escape trajectory from Gilly using only a Kerbal's EVA pack, but could you get a low intersect with Kerbin and aero-brake him in and land in water or something? Maybe a personal parachute mod for Kerbals.

Actually just crash into the ground. Water kills instantly.

Water is worse. It isn't soft. Though, of course, a REAL space program wants to land things in the water, because it won't kill people.
I can't wait for cities to be put in eventually, so I can crash rockets into them and get sued.

Fen- when the KSP Forums go back up, search for "KerbTown" and "Kerbin City".
