So. You want to gain intel on an enemy faction, but they can easily see the little faction tag on your d00dz.

The Invisidevice
Addressed by cats in another post, this device simply hides the username of the wearer.

Alias Device
When activated, it opens a GUI window asking for an alias, then presents this "username" in the place of the normal nameplate.

Inventory Cloak
This device, when activated, hides the contents of yout inventory from others.

Inventory Scanner
Scans a player inv., and brings up a list of items they have. Can be fooled by the Inv. Cloak, but players with "empty" inventories but a sword in hand will be probably suspect.

Tracking Beacon
Stuck on a person, object, or ship, this can be tracked by a Device.
Can be upgraded as a weapons beacon.

Tracking Device
Used to find and follow the signal from a Beacon.

Jammer
Jams tracking signals for X radius. Can be upgraded for further distance.

You should just be able to hide your playertag in the settings menu. Inventory scanners sound good though, as well as countermeasures for it. I had another idea about inventory structure somewhere...

Primarily because any form of sabotage becomes impossible with scanners, so countermeasures should appear.

All of these systems should have a very high energy consumption rating. That way you are limited to the amount of these modular devices. This would help with the creation of specialty ships. Very effective combat ships wouldn't have the power level (after the guns are installed) to run several of those systems. Were as a ship that does run several specialty systems wouldn't have the power for heavy guns.

Nay. Because if I alter my username and remove my faction ta g, then change my skin, I can be anyone, and the bad guys have absolutely no chance of detecting me.

Make them devices, because any form of stealth should have a cost.

Oh, I just realized that changing your skin is a thing...Well, maybe make it so changing your skin isn't possible, like you need something in game to do it, but you get to pick it when you start? or just keep it.

Seriously though, people would just choose the one with the best perks. And, mind you, there will always be one that is better. Probably avian. Then, we might as well not have choices.
