 Buying buildings and infistructure

Now if I can recall if a building gets destroyed you can used a ship yard to build it back up again (well not the ship yard but the thing that makes the ships),
and people seem to have the idea for making ships and selling them on I guess some kind of in-game trade menu,
so why not buildings too, it would make it easer to start up a city right away, and the buildings wouldn't be so ugly.

But having a city just because it looks good isn't the best idea, when you could just use that time, and resources to make a giant fort,
so if buildings provided bonuses, like in wealth, production, research, agricultural, and other stuff, with in certain requirements
so you don't have a 4x4x4 bank.
