| Attention: For those who don't already know, FutureCraft now has a wiki! Keep in mind that most things about the mod are not concrete until the developers contribute their part. It is a Wikia wiki, so people who already have a Wikia account don't need to register. Link: http://futurecraft.wikia.com/wiki/Futurecraft_WikiThat's all. (Edited 7/21/12)--------------- Hello everyone. This mod has gone quite a ways. Many suggestions have been contributed to the mod, and dozens of ship designs are ready to take to the stars and skies. But how can everyone know what is and is not confirmed to be part of the mod? AFAIK, the ship specifications on the mod overview OP is out of date, and what else could possibly be added that has not been documented? The wiki is a solution to such a problem in addition to other problems. It provides a single, unified place for all information related to the mod It provides a directory that is easier to access and modify as opposed to a forum.
The code is open, and can be used in any MediaWiki-based wiki So information can't be trapped.
It could (possibly) provide an easier repository for people to post ship designs The page itself can be easily modified by the designer, while comments can be relegated to talk pages. In addition, edits are timestamped, so that it is easy to see earlier revisions.
There are many other benefits, and I do not make this thread as a demand. I am merely bringing forth an idea. What is the forum's consensus?

| I could probably set up a mediawiki install on my webhost. This is a good idea. | |

| Everything is volatile until it actually gets coded. I don't see the big deal. | |

| A Wiki would be useful, although currently it would, could, and should serve as a place for people to post ship designs.
Imagine if we could have Futurecraft's entire fleet on the wiki, with all the pictures and stats, so we can share our awesomeness with the world!

| If you want to start somewhere, start with that Google Doc we set up way back when. | |

| I don't see a need for a wiki for now. There is certainly a need for it later but currently we don't have anything to put in it. As for adding all ships to the wiki do you plan to sit im front of your comp till midnight every day just to enter some hot crying ships made out of dirt ? And there's going to be tones of them... | |

First off. There is no clear list of features as of now, there are many threads giving suggestions on the same thing! Having a wiki would reduce confusion when submitting input on the forums, and also contain a set-in-stone list of things to implement for the devs so everything's not so volatile when fr0st finishes his thing. Secondly, it'd also serve to be a nice place to list descriptions of our factions and ships. 'crap' stuff would be deleted by the admin(s) of this wiki. I know I'd love to make a wikipedia style page for each of my ships, there's nothing better to do as far as this mod is concerned during this lull in activity.

You could make a mod for SoaSE that adds everybody's ships.

| It's possible to convert minecraft ships to 3d models and put them ingame, though I don't think anyone here can do that. I've been trying but it's, well, hard, to say the least. Not to mention people appear to be hesitant to give up their ships Though I've been getting pretty bored, so I'll try that again. | |

Though I've been getting pretty bored, so I'll try that again. I like this idea. Converting to 3d models isn't hard, I have seen programs for that. Putting them in, well that just takes knowing how to mod SOASE. Should be okay.

| I've tried before, getting models into 3DS is the easy part, done that many times for mini-projects. The hard portion consists of actually getting the darned things ingame and then balancing them/making the FX. | |

| Scratch that, apparently there's something called Particle Forge. Didn't see that last time, should make things a helluva lot easier. | |

| BTW if you plan to delete "crap" ships, tell me who decides what crap and what not ? Yea some ships are crap no matter how you look at them but many others are on the thin line between crap and not. Also filtering stuff by admins like that will surely hurt someone's feelings. And what's about the lore ? Some ship descriptions may suddenly be filled with ponies who take control of the world thanks to an ancient pooping machine that gives them infinite crap that they burn in their engines ... Such lore will surely ruin the atmosphere of the mod but in theory you don't have the right to modify this description either... | |

If a ship is just a massive block or clearly a troll ship, it'll be deleted. If it looks at least marginally good, it'd be safe from deletion. Also filtering stuff by admins like that will surely hurt someone's feelings. - Iv121 wrote:

This is clearly an exaggeration, but if you don't care for that type of thing, no one's forcing you to read it. Chances are the grammar would be terrible from the getgo, which would be something of a warning to the curious reader. Something that'd probably happen, though, is posts filtered on grammar. If you have anthen dey go rket shp spac empr! It'll be most definitely culled. Really, no one cares whether your old grandma made it, it's still going to be based on quality and premise. Perhaps some sort of rating system where vessels/factions in the negative will automatically be deleted after a period of time.

| There's no way we can have someone deciding what ships people can keep and what they can't. We just have to make sure that the game is reasonably balanced functionality-wise and then it shouldn't matter what things look like. | |

Try again when we have a playable pre-alpha version of Futurecraft. DonĀ“t you see that people are talking about SoaSE mods here?

| I think there's a glitch with the passwords on the wiki, as I have made an account but can't log in with my password, or the password I got sent through the forgot password link. | |
