The problem with accelerator
cannons is that they require a lot of ammo. And if I am trying to have an
automatic defence system, a weapon which does not require massive amounts of
ammo is probably a good thing.

Originally, it was a MAC, but then I realised that an ion cannon is much more efficient,
and much less... messy. As such, where the bullet used to go is now an ionized
beam projector. The barrel is really now only for effects, but I quite like the
cannon the way it is.

Oh, I see. I feel pretty useless now. Maybe replace the drones with loads of materials with a special docking clamp area to refit ships? That would help with defense, I guess.

It's so big you can't see it. You stare at it and you're just seeing a tiny part of it, you're not seeing it.

How long is it ? It actually looks more like one of those Warhammer ships, didn't really like their steampunk style though. It looks good...

Don't derail...

It is bad Karma.

Either way, I should have some "spare" time this weekend, so I might actually be able to get some building done. My Orbital Defense Satellite was built during an English assessment, so... yeah.

The first thing I'll do is give my Satellite an interior. Then I will start on a fleet to go with the satellite, as I kind of like the style. Doesn't go well with my crisp, clean, white, and environmentally sound ideas for the rest of Futurecraft though...

IE: I don't want to absolutely destroy your planet. I would much rather just bomb the exterior and leave it open for mining.

No. I just don't want our home planet to turn out like Coruscant (is that spelled right?), covered in pollution and having buildings so thick, you don't even know where the surface starts.
I want to be more like the Replicator home planet. A perfectly clear atmosphere, a healthy water source, with lots of parks and trees around the city.

Funny, how a bunch of machines build nicer cities than actual lifeforms.

We can pollute other planets. Our main planet is a wilderness paradise.

Coruscant is spelled right. You're thinking of an encumenopolis, which is just the term for a planet that is covered by a single city. On Coruscant, it was Galactic City. Other encumenopoleis in Star Wars include Taris and Nar Shaddaa. They do tend to be polluted, but Coruscant ran just fine for thousands of years. The only real downside to them is that if the enemy decides to do a Base Delta Zero, you're screwed. Slagging the crust of an encumenopolis would do much more damage to your empire as a whole than if all your resources are spread out over many planets. You lose a lot more people, too.

But that's like over 9000 free trade ports on your planet though Very Happy
No need to build any extra atmospheric ones.

Much of Coruscant's trade happened on skyhooks in the upper atmoshpere. I assume the same was true of Nar Shaddaa and Taris.

I was led to believe skyhooks were privatized, given that in Episode II Anakin and Amidala used a port on the planet surface. That and Xizor in Shadows of the Empire owned a personal one, lending the notion that they're only for the wealthy.

Some of them are certainly owned by individuals, and there are large docking facilities on the ground. Anakin crashed Invisible Hand onto one of them. A lot of stuff happens on skyhooks and other orbital facilities, though.
