To be fair, Eloraam's has been in the works since well before Futurecraft was a thing.
But this is the first I've heard of it being an engine meant for use in Minecraft, though I may be misunderstanding it.

Yeah. He said he "was working on that engine while waiting for 1.3"

Wait, she is?

That might explain something. Exept then she would be 70 or so. Hmmmm.... yeah, I guess Eloram could be Notch's mom.

When people take minecraft away from squares and start making too many new textures and player models change, it starts to look like Elder Scrolls 2, I am serious, go look at some gameplay. Cobblestone texture is very similar.

I hope that the new engine will feature colored lights . The normal white light looks stupid (friendly said)

It should. I've got 16 bits in the texture reserved for a biome color modifier, but there's no reason it has to be used exclusively for biomes. Also texture/lighting updates separately from geometry so lighting doesn't trigger a full chunk update. Results should allow for one heck of a light show.

Only part which might make things more complicated is that the warmness modifier (the thing which makes moonlight bluish and block light sort of yellow) is a separate layer and can't be changed on a per-block level. Any colored lights would need to compensate for this.
